      From JEANETTEM November 25, 2008

Hi my name is Jeanette, I was diagnosed with small PE's at the beginning of August. just sending a hug your way. You will probably see that everyone recovers at different rates. The one thing we all have in common is that we are PE survivors. As you read through the posts ( read the old ones too) they will give you an insight into what to expect as you recover. The things the Dr's don't tell you. This is a wonderful site to ask questions and just to have a rant on the days you feel low. We are all here for you, to share and encourage you. Take Care, Jeanette

    • Close Pulmonary Embolism

Sent for CT after 2.5 weeks of PEs misdiagnosed as pneumonia (even tho cough or fever, just rib pain). Medium-size blood clots in all 4 quadrants! Admitted thru ER; 4-day hosp stay. Now recall having BAD charley horses in the previous 8 wks. Tested positive for hetero Factor V Leiden; was also using Nuva Ring so 2 risk factors meant 40% increased likelihood. 3 weeks after ER admission, still short of breath and yawning a lot.

      Treatments

      Heparin Working / Worked
Once my INR was 2.4, went to just heparin. Declined to 2.2 after 4 days of 5mg 1x day (I think). Told to alternate 5 and 7.5 1x day. I've been out of the hospital 2 weeks now.
      Lovenox Working / Worked
Put on Lovenox in the ER; injections for a total of 7 days (6mg (I think) twice a day). By the end of the week, my INR was 2.4, midrange.
