Hi Marshmalo, I understand about how frustrating the appliances can be. I only tried the hard plastic mouth guard with no metals in it. It made me feel better and I can feel the difference even after wearing it the first night. Yes it did hurt my teeth a little at first but that went away pretty quickly. If I tried something and it made me feel worse I would not want to keep on using it. I do not like pain and if somethings is causing it to be more painful then I would stop it. I know everybody is different. You know YOUR own body nobody else does. If the NTI does not feel good after a short time then it might not be the right thing for you. Like I said before my dentist knows about it but said he would only do that if my mouth guard does not work for me. Well my mouth guard is working for me and he knows it. I trust my dentist wholly otherwise I would not be going to him for over 4 years now. He takes care of my boys teeth and my hubby's teeth too. Just listen to your body and what it is telling you what feels good and what feels bad. I pray and hope that you will be able to find what makes you feel great! take care, MASHlover

Dear Marshmalo, Sorry to hear that it didn't give you any relief yet. I know when you have your hopes up with something new and it doesn't deliver what you want it can be such a downer. I hope you will start to have better days, mornings and nights with all you try to do. Hang in there something will work for you if this happens not to be the answer for you. I started to sleep on my back with a pillow under my knees to see if this will relieve any pressure on my jaws and it does. It is just hard to keep myself on my back all night long. Now I am being hit hard with my acid reflux again so I am pretty much on the couch until it clears up.

hi ! i got mine yesterday as well ! and certainly dont expect immediate results, the good thing about it,is i am no longer grinding on my back molars on my left hand side, the nti has stopped that ! i'm sure that with time things will improve,i would say to learn some relaxation exercises in the meantime, make a period of your day for that only, and drop what you are doing and say this time is for me,there must be some relaxation cd's you can try,go to the library, and see if they have some, find one you like, and copy it ! 10 to 20 mins is the norm ! give it a go,dont lie down to your anxieties or fear that i know this condition can cause ! i'll keep you posted if you like ? take care glyn.

Sorry about your problems with TMJ, first try and find the best doctor you can. A good orthodontist would know the most about the condition, and could refer you to a specialist. First get a film of the jaw joint, then you will really know what is going on. And most people need a night guard the orthodontist can take care of that. You medical insurance should have an ENT department they would (ears nose and throat) probably be able to help and you insurance could pay. Have a nice holiday season, and email me if I can be of any help. Kathy - California
