I'm making a new mantra Mood
Monday, July 13, 2009

OK breath and remember that their anxiety and stress is not yours and you (no matter what they tell you) are not responsible to fix it.

That's the mantra that I'm going to try to remember to repeat because my parents seem set on the idea that I am causing them great stress and anxiety because I am not doing all that I should to help myself. I alone am responsible so it seems to alleviate from certain impending doom--the doom [gasp!] of my needing to rely on them for all eternity. The black cloud of the financial crisis will never lift and I will forever be at the teets of my parents. Oh jeez, how much more mellodrama can we possibly find here? When you get down to really looking at it, it's laughable! hahaha

Keep laughing it off. Bravo to you for laughing it off. And bravo for remembering that their anxiety and stress isn't yours and that it shouldn't affect you. You're not causing them stress--they're causing themselves stress!
