About Me
I'm learning to be a mom all over again. I have 2 kids of my own and have 2 foster kids, whom I've been fostering for 3 months now. I am not big on the whole homemaker thing, I will never purchase a minivan, but I have a lot of love to give. I have been in corp. America for the last 10 years and made the desicion to work at home so that I could have more time with my kids. It has been an interesting adventure. One that I can say I have truly enjoyed.

Remember we are all doing the best we can at each moment. You are doing fabulous. Reward and appreciate the positive behaviors exhibited. Thank you's to them will not go unnoticed. Mornings can be mayhem. Have the children pick out clothes and have backpacks ready the night before helps me. I believe the "spark" will ignite. You are PROTECTING these children and doing a good job. Deep breaths. If it is best for the children to be elsewhere you will know in your heart, give it a little more time. Blessings, julie

Wow - what a special and wonderful heart that you have! I was looking into foster care as well. I don't have the living situation to take any kids in but want to someday but signed up to take the necessary classes in February so I'm well on my way. Thanks for your encouragement and pray that you are blessed with the strength and support you need. Kristin
Get Well Soon!
My first antidpressant was PAXIL..I was stoned into obscurity..made me dead to the world emotionally..almost had a car wreck becasue I just didn't care if I hit the other vehicle..now I am on LEXAPRO which had worked sooo much better..but yeah, PAXIL can be something else!!

Close Foster Care
I am a new foster mom as of 2 months. I entered into the foster care arena to do good and hopefully grow my family one day. My husband I have 2 kids 12 and 8 and 2 foster kids 9 and 7.
Close Anxiety
I have been treated for depression and anxiety for the last 4 or 5 years. As I listen to my body more and experience more I think I my anxiety sticks where my depression will come and go. I currently am a stay-at-home mom creating my own business. I have 2 new foster kids and am learning to deal with those new responsibilities. I have regained hope and refreshment from listening to others with their stories.
Treatments
- Hypnotherapy Too Soon to Tell
- Klonopin Somewhat Helpful
- Makes me drowsy, but sometimes I just have to buckle down and take it so I don't ware myself out.
- Lexapro Working / Worked
- I tried to down my dose and did so successfully- or so I thought. My family told me to go back to my higher dose. When I talked to my doc she laughed because she said the lower dose I was taking (10 mg every/other day) can't work- chemically speaking.
- Meditation Too Soon to Tell
- Paxil Somewhat Helpful
- My sex drive was squashed... so on top of my other problems, this was something I didn't need.
- Positive Thinking Working / Worked
- Behavior Modification is what I think this is called, but consciously changing my mindset has been extremely helpful... hard, but helpful.
- St. John\'s Wort Working / Worked
Open Fitness Goals
Type: Improve overall fitnessI was always thin- I had the nick-name Skinny-bones jones and then I hit 28 and haven't stopped gaining weight since. I am now 38 and need to get control. My biggest challenges are that I am pretty much a vegetarian (plus I don't eat eggs) and I am short on time. I have good weeks and then when I get challenged on the home-front (I am a mom of 2 and a foster mom of 2) or at work (I am a PT mgmt consultant) I put exercise or eatting well at the bottom of my priorities.
Treatments
- 6 Week Body Makeover Working / Worked
Open Diets & Weight Maintenance
I am a vegetarian, but I do eat fish (but no eggs) and dairy (but not cow's milk). I have gained a lot of weight. I think it is due to the veg change because I ate a lot of quesadillas and other things I shouldn't have. I have been on lots of diets and have success, but never true long-lasting success.
Treatments
- 6 Week Body Makeover Working / Worked
- Great!
- Counting Calories Working / Worked
- I still go back to this, but it is hard work.
- Eat Less Working / Worked
- This is hard to maintain.
- Jenny Craig Somewhat Helpful
- I don't think I did it long enough.
- LA Weight Loss Somewhat Helpful
- Worked a bit, but not long lasting
- NutriSystem Not Working
- I tried, but the food was gross and I returned it all.
- Physical Exercise Working / Worked
- Along with counting this worked.
- hCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) Working / Worked
- Worked great but expensive and gained back more!
