    • About Me

I am a recent college graduate. I love music, singing and writing. I have held positions in both business and education, but I would love to become a personal trainer or a nutritionist because my disease has affected my life in so many ways! God bless y'all--let's support one another!

    • Close Hyperthyroidism

I have always been an incredibly skinny person, weighing in the 90-100 lb. range. When diagnosed, I was initially placed on PTU, but was later switched to Methimazole by my endocrinologist after about 6 months. I received my first bout of RAI after 2 years and my second after 3 years. I am still hyperthyroid, but I feel much calmer after the two treatments of RAI. I have gained a lot of weight from treatment & am struggling with you all!

      Treatments

      Methimazole Working / Worked
Methimazole has always somewhat worked for me. It has at least helped me to feel better, in the sense that it seems to calm my anxiousness a bit.
      Radioactive Iodine Somewhat Helpful
I've had TWO treatments of RAI. Since I am young, it was difficult to contain my thyroid. It was temporarily successful in calming down my thyroid (the second time, I went a little HYPO), but since then, my hyperthyroidism has come back full blast. I am currently taking methimazole, which I have been on for the past four years, since I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism.

    • Open Diets & Weight Maintenance

I was diagnosed with HYPERthyroidism when I was only 19 years old. I gained 40+ lbs and have been struggling to lose the weight ever since! I need support just as much as everyone else and also hope that I can encourage others =)

      Treatments

      Counting Calories Somewhat Helpful
I have kept a food journal before, which has somewhat helped, but it was pretty time consuming and often hard to remember to bring the journal everywhere!
      Eating Healthier Foods Not Working
I have a nutritionist, who has helped me to devise a diet plan, but I still have a really tough time sticking to it. My main weakness is eating out all the time!
