I was diagnosed with optic nerve atrophy in Jan 2005. However my eyesight has been constant for the past 10 years. I cannot see with my right eye,can just about count fingers at a distance of 1 meter. However I make up with my left eye which is normal. I have a past history of Dermatomyositis,an autoimmune disorder diagnosed in 1997. I was also in a coma for few days in March 1997, which is suspected to be the cause of my optic nerve atrophy.
I was diagnosed with Dermatomyositis,an autoimmune disease in 1997. Since then have been working out regularly. Workout atleast 5 times a week when I'm not too busy.
In March 1997 , I slipped into a coma for about 10 days. Later I was still in a semiconscious state for few days. After recovering from the coma, I went downhill again n 3 months later was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease 'Dermatomyositis'. Over the years , I was also diagnosed with optic nerve atrohpy which was caused by the coma/convulsions that happened in 97.
I had a wonderful job where I was working as an intern last year. My project manager was very happy with my performance & asked me to join the organization 2 months before the actual joining date. Everything looked good , but then had a medical before joining for company insurance. I'm under treatment for dermatomyositis & optic nerve atrophy & as a result couldn't clear the medical. Now I have found another job. Not a similar kind of profile. It is quite hectic, but I am happy here.
I was diagnosed with Dermatomyositis in 1997 at the age of 14. I was bed ridden for couple of months. Couldn't even lift my neck in bed & was fed through a gastro tube. However after being wheel chair bound for about an year my condition improved. I completed my studies & am leading a very normal life now. Today I am able to work for 9+ hours without a problem & even play an occasional sport :)
