    • Interests

I like to read a lot. I read super fast so it tends to not keep my interest to long. I enjoy Anime and Manga though I'm not obsessed like some insane people out there. I like my healthy dose of video games as well. Nothing is better than beating the crap out of some fictional character to let the stress out.. or just have it be something to take me away from my problems for a littler while. I will admit I still like Pokemon. I like the games. They provide hours of things to do when you have nothing left to do. I enjoy music though I am very picky. I tend to listen to rock, metal and techno. Whether it be English or Japanese. It doesn't matter the language I can usual sing it. Of course I love Animals as well. Mainly cats. I love dogs to but I'm highly allergic to them and I get nosebleeds. If I could I'd be a vet tech so I could take care of them. Animals seem to be more comforting than people.

    • Close Hives

I'm Sam. I was diagnosed with Solar and Dermatographic Urticaria in August of 2008 after I graduated all all of a sudden started to get hives when outside.

      Treatments

      Benadryl Not Working
I'm immune to most antihistamines and so the Benadryl hasn't helped me.
    • Close Environmental Allergies
      Type of allergy: Other

I'm Sam.. I have a severe mold allergy. In my Doctors case it's the highest she'd even seen. Because of my allergy I had to drop out of school at one point because I was so sick. In the end we found out it was the mold allergy and my school had been filled with it. Through constant effort and constantly being horribly sick I managed to go back, face mask and all and get my diploma.

      Treatments

      Allergy Shots Not Working
The mold allergy shot had helped me a bit, I didn't get the migraines as much. When I got to the every 4 weeks point I had a huge reaction and had been reaction every week I got the shots since then (4 months) I finally stopped the shots because they just didn't make me feel good anymore.
      Flonase Not Working
Previously prescribed by my allergist. Had no effect whatsoever.
      Nasonex Not Working
Prescribed by my allergist to help sinus migraines caused by my allergies. Didn't help me at all. I continues to have frequent nosebleeds and burning in my nose from it.
      Singulair Somewhat Helpful
One of the antihistamines I was prescribed by my Allergist. Taken daily I have less of a runny nose and my migraines aren't as bad. Not much of a difference from not taking it though.
      Sudafed Somewhat Helpful
Only worked to help me not be so stuffed up after being exposed to something I'm allergic to.
      Zyrtec Somewhat Helpful
One of the antihistamines I was prescribed by my Allergist. Taken daily I have less of a runny nose and my migraines aren't as bad. Not much of a difference from not taking it though.
    • Open Asthma
      Type: Other

I'm Sam. I have a case of severe asthma which is mostly triggered by my allergies. I've had serious problems with it since I was a little kid.

      Treatments

      Advair Not Working
Previously prescribed by my allergy and asthma doctor. Didn't have any effect in controlling my asthma.
      Albuterol Somewhat Helpful
I have the usual Albuterol inhaler as prescribed by my allergist. When taken before being in contact with my allergies such as dogs it helps a bit. If I start to have asthma symptoms though and then use it I find it no use at all and it tends to make me cough more. I also have the Albuterol for my nebulizer. I really don't like the stuff. I get very jittery and have a severely increased heart rate. The medication also makes my throat feel raw and for a short time it makes me cough really bad.
      Asmanex Not Working
Previously prescribed by my allergy and asthma doctor. Didn't have any effect in controlling my asthma.
      Azmacort Not Working
Previously prescribed by my allergy and asthma doctor. Didn't have any effect in controlling my asthma.
      Flovent Not Working
Previously prescribed by my allergy and asthma doctor. Didn't have any effect in controlling my asthma.
      Inhaler Somewhat Helpful
I have the usual Albuterol inhaler as prescribed by my allergist. When taken before being in contact with my allergies such as dogs it helps a bit. If I start to have asthma symptoms though and then use it I find it no use at all and it tends to make me cough more.
      Singulair Not Working
Previously prescribed by my allergy and asthma doctor. Didn't have any effect in controlling my asthma. I am however on this medication for my allergies. In this department it helps a tiny bit.
      Symbicort Working / Worked
This is the latest asthma controller medicine I've been prescribed by my asthma and allergy doctor. So far it's helped me have less asthma problems than usual. The increased chance of Asthma related death isn't a nice thought but it's the only medication to help me this much so far.
      Xolair Working / Worked
I have Xolair injections every month. I've found I've had less asthma problems since I've been on it. However I do tend to feel horrible after I get the injections. I get a migraine and I get tired. Before the injections I sometimes run a low grade fever.
    • Open Food Allergies
      Type of allergy: Other Foods

I'm Sam. My family has a history of food allergies which unfortunately passed onto me. I have a wheat allergy, corn allergy and lactose intolerance. I'm allergic to most fruits and Citrus is an Asthma trigger for me.

      Treatments

Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Working / Worked
I currently have to avoid anything containing wheat and corn. Along with the other foods I know I have issues with. So far I'm miserable because I can't have many things I love and I feel like I'm starving because I'm used to loading up on carbs from bread. Compared to the downsides though I really do feel better. I no longer have a runny/stuffy nose all the time and I haven't had the drainage in my throat that causes me to choke and cough causing me to have an asthma attack.
      EpiPen Too Soon to Tell
I have thankfully not had to use my Twinject as of yet.
    • Open Fibromyalgia

I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in June 2009.

    • Open Celiac Disease

Thought to have Celiac in conjunction with Fibromyalgia and a non-specific autoimmune disease that makes me appear to have the flu all the time.

      Treatments

      Gluten Free Diet Somewhat Helpful
In my case gluten is a 50/50 sometimes I get really sick after I eat it, and might get severely stuffed up to where I can't breath. Other times I don't get any side effects at all.
