Close Depression
Type: Clinical (Major) Depressionhave suffered from major clinical depression in the bipolar spectrum sense most of my life. It is the one thing I wish would just vanish like nobody's business.
Treatments
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Considering
- always tried to try it, but I need more help with this.
- Cymbalta Not Working
- made me feel manic and took me a long time to come down off of
- Desipramine Not Working
- took this years ago, did not work.
- Effexor Considering
- but probably not
- Elavil Not Working
- took this years ago, did not work.
- Electroconvulsive therapy Working / Worked
- Worked many years ago - considering it again if things don't radiclly improve.
- Lexapro Working / Worked
- worked a bit for one year and then stopped working, made me tired.
- Meditation Somewhat Helpful
- need to keep with it to consitently to see if it helps.
- Paxil Working / Worked
- worked for a while nd then stopped. didn't like feeling apathetic a lot of the time.
- Positive Thinking Somewhat Helpful
- I try this but iin the grip of a major depression, it feels like hard work and i get burned out.
- Prozac Working / Worked
- worked for years on and off. would stop working. after i developed bipolar disorder, i was unable to take it.
- Psychotherapy Somewhat Helpful
- i have heard a few tidbits here and there that I have carried along, otherwise, it seems lame in so many ways. but i think i am really ready to take control of it and make it work to my advantage - hopefully.
- Seroquel Not Working
- did not work. zombied me out

- i hate putting it on my family but an encouraging word sure helps and getting out of myself and around others can be a big help at times.
- Wellbutrin Somewhat Helpful
- worked great for a few years, then stopped. next time I tried it, i ended up in a mixed manic episode with paranoia.
- Writing Somewhat Helpful
- helps me sort trhough what is bothering me - even if I get OCD about it.
Close Bipolar Disorder
Was finally dx'd as having Bipolar I in 2004. Had suffered depression all my life.
Treatments
- Abilify Not Working
- Wired me up and caused muscle tension.
- Celexa Not Working
- Wired me up and went through some terrible withdrawal getting off of it.
- Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Working / Worked
- This does help though I am no longer in any formal group. But I do remember the tools I learned and can put them to use at times.
- Lamictal Working / Worked
- I am taking this and it is keeping the depression somewhat at bay and stabilizing moods a little, but it never did help that much with the depression. Just keeps me out of the hospital really.
- Risperdal Too Soon to Tell
- I am still trying this one. Second round. It makes me feel a little weird but I think it does help bring me up a little.
- Wellbutrin Not Working
- Could not take this one. Made me totally manic.
Open Fibromyalgia
Got diagnosed with fibro two years after a bad car accident and after my third TMJ surgery. I am unable to work full time and what other people take for granted for being able to get done in one day, it wipes me out just running a few errands some days.
Treatments
- Aqua Therapy Somewhat Helpful
- Cymbalta Not Working
- Duragesic Patch Not Working
- I had an extreme reaction to this and nearly ended up in the ER.
- Effexor Not Working
- Lyrica Not Working
- I got some really weird pain in my right foot that became unbearable and it made me feel more tired.
- Morphine Somewhat Helpful
- TENS Working / Worked
- When things are really bad, this helps a lot.
- Ultram Somewhat Helpful
- I take this now as Tramadol on a daily basis. It helps somewhat, but I feel it is sapping my energy and making my bipolar condition worse. My doctor agrees.
- Zanaflex Not Working
- I don't like muscle relaxants for some reason. They make me tired.
Open Chronic Pain
Chronic pain after an accident 8 years ago. Had TOS decompression surgery and 3 TMJ surgeries. Have been diagnosed with chronic myofacial pain dysfunction and fibromyalgia.
Treatments
- Cymbalta Not Working
- I got manic on this medication. it did nothing to help the pain.
- Heat Working / Worked
- Lidoderm Somewhat Helpful
- Lyrica Not Working
- I tried this but it made me tired and I had this weird pain in my right foot and restless leg syndrome after a while.
- Marijuana Not Working
- It actually sometimes would make me more sensitive to my pain. I feel I have been in less pain since I quit.
- Meditation Somewhat Helpful
- Methadone Working / Worked
- I stopped taking this a few years ago. It kind of snuck up on me after a year. I think I ended up spending nearly a year in bed on this stuff.
- Morphine Working / Worked
- I had to go off of this as I got tired of not being able to move my bowels and no appetite. I had chronic nausea and I was more depressed.
- Naproxen Somewhat Helpful
- just not strong enough for every day
- Nerve Blocks Working / Worked
- I had a facet injection in my neck that worked for a while, but not long enough.
- Neurontin Somewhat Helpful
- worked to cut down on the pain after my TOS surgery but then became ineffective when the pain became chronic
- Physical Therapy Somewhat Helpful
- Just not long term enough. I do the exercises, but sometimes it seems futile.
- TENS Working / Worked
- This helps a lot when things get really bad, but I find it sort of a pain to use.
Open Pre-menstrual Syndrome (PMS)
Have had bad PMS for as long as I can remember and it seems to be getting worse as I get older. I am desperately trying to find ways to heal it all.
Treatments
- Black Cohosh Working / Worked
- I just started taking this as part of an herbal supplment called "Change Of Life" by Nature's way, I think it is. I did not get major cramps this month and read that this might be the thing that helped that. I am very impressed.
- Evening Primrose Oil Not Working
- I didn't notice anyting different and I took it for over three months. I just take fish oil now. cheaper.
- Naproxen Working / Worked
- Definitely helps with cramps
- Oral Contraceptives Not Working
- I can't take these things. They all make me worse almost.
- Progesterone Cream Too Soon to Tell
- I just started this.
