Little Blue Pill Mood
Saturday, March 28, 2009 | A General Update story

How strange is it that you can suffer with fatigue and sleeplessness at the same time. I went off to see the Dr yesterday. I asked him for something to help settle the muscle spasm and twitching I have in my legs that in the most part stop me from getting a good nights sleep. I can go to bed absolutly pooped, fall asleep and then be woken up within the hour; and then this goes on and on all night. I've tried the heat-pad, changing position, getting up and walking around, and end up taking another Tramamdol to not much avail. Hubby is getting tired of my twitching too - it's disturbing his beauty sleep too.

So I came away with a prescription for amitryplinine 10mg. Of course, like everyone else I get home and Google the medication because my memory recalled this was used for severe depression. Does the Dr think I'm depressed? Maybe I am - just don't recognise it.

So scrolling through the information, it tells me that it is particularly helpful in low doses for those suffering with nerve/muscle spasm, especially for RA and fibromyalgia. Good at least we are on the right track here then. So I took the first one last night and tucked in for a good nights kip. Well, sadly last night was much like the others - fidget, turn over, spasm, wriggle, fidget etc, etc. I did have a good afternoon nap this afternoon though.

But got to keep trying, maybe too early to notice a difference, after all I've only had one dose!

Maybe it's accumulative, and maybe the dose will be increased on the next visit, and maybe if nothing else it'll cheer me up! That will be nice.

"Harry Humira" visited today - he's so slack, not doing his job yet. I was hoping by week 6 he'd be figuring out what he's supposed to be doing by now, tut. In the meantime the pill container is bulging at the seams!

I took this for about three years. It takes time to get into your system. It should start working real good in about 1 to 2 weeks. Sadly I had to stop taking it because of my heart. It suspose to help with back pain also. love peach

"harry humira"? i love it! mine started working in about 4-6 weeks, works great! but my doc has increased it to a shot every week--guess the ra is moving faster than the shot! i found that if i take my mtx and my shot at nite, i sleep better. and, anything i can do to help me sleep, i'm in! good luck with your little blue pill! :)

Hey lady! I raised my shot of Harry to you last night (cheers, Cowgirl!). Then was up until almost 5am. I made the mistake of speaking the "b" word to hubby last night...(as in, "I think I might be feeling better!"...to which he replied "shush! Don't wake the RA god!"). Then had a miserable night!

So I'll be waiting to here how you like the little blue pill (I thought you were talking about Viagra! Now THERE'S a way to spend a restless night!!). My experience was less than lovely. I ditched it after a week.

I hope that the medication will work out for you. Good luck of getting to the proper dosage to be effective.

I did not know that they gave lessons. That will help a lot.

You are such a card! ("Harry Humira" ). My GF took amitryplinine too, and stopped because it wasn't working for her neck spasms. Must be like Peach says, "It takes time to get into your system." I hope it works out for you!

I take the little blue pill too, but not that little lol. I had chronic insomnia for over 2.5 yrs and was ready to throw myself under a bus to get some "rest." I've got a boat load of sleeping pills left over. When I went to my new rheumy 2 years ago and he found out about the sleeplessness he prescribed amitriptyline for me but 25 mg. The first night I took it and I was out! Over time I got used to it and didn't sleep as well so he bumped it up to 50 mg and I have been in sleepy heaven every night since. I know it has to build up in your system to treat for depression but it worked the first night for sleeping, so you might want to talk to the man about increasing your dosage. Good luck sweety!

Hang in there, sweetie! It often takes our meds time to sink in. Hope it starts working soon for you, I know what a pain sleeplessness is - for a week I averaged about three hours (after finding out about Buttercup) but I'm doing better now - 7 last night!
