The "Panic" Attack Mood
Wednesday, February 18, 2009 | A General Update story

I am not normally known for being anxious or highly strung, but I went into a moment of frozen panic this morning on awakening. I could not feel or move my arms.

Apart from OMG! and the "now what's happening to me" feeling, I finally got the gist my hands were above my head and my arms, because of lack of blood probably, were totally numb and lifeless.

I thought, I've got to try and bring them down by my side. The more I tried, the less happened until I suddenly heard the rrrrrrrripping sound of velco.

Duh..... The right and the left velcro strips on my wrist splints had got together while my hands were above my head on the pillow, and were stuck to each other like superglue! They certainly do not warn you about that on the packet.

I am now considering wearing a velcro belt with wrist straps, that way I'll keep my arms down by my side; only trouble is I'll look like a patient from "One Flew Over the Cookoos Nest", I'm sure.

Dear me, the men in white coats are not far away now!

What do you know? a new use for the splints!! wouldn't you love to see the commercials we could come with for that product? Side effects:you may awaken to find yourself a prisoner of your own doing!!
reminds me of when my velcro belt (a large heat pack) got stuck in my hair..I tried to lift my head and went nowhere from the weight of the thing!!

You are one of a kind darlin'. you are so dear and kind ...

In the wizard of Oz story, there was a part which the iron man found an oilcan and got so happy i always tell maryam - and now you - that you need one beside your bed.
i have read this story when i was 9 on those days Iran was on a war with Iraq and the days were so gray for a 9 year old boy who didn't know anything about the world, i hated my parents who put the pressure on me for learning a language(english) when no other creature on the earth knew it! ...
there was only a man who came to visit me once a week (after year i found out his name is private teacher!!!!!!) and because my parents couldn't talk to that guy they sent me to learn his strange language!!!

well this was my impression from what was happening to me, then one day he gave me that book ...the story of wizard OZ ... after years i've discovered there are other people on earth who had to learn that language and who had to read that story and i was not the only one ... so i would suggest and oilcan

please do not let the morning surprise grab you, life is just now ... not the past ... neither the future, darlin ... show the pain who you really are
    hugz

HAH! That is a great story. I thought it was going to be a "I can't move - flare" story. That is too funny!!!!!!

Two for one - HMar, that is a great story too! Thanks.

Well your little experience gave me a chuckle. And goodness knows, any of us with RA could use a chuckle. In fact, for a second, I thought I had possibly gotten linked to some wild and wooly website where you got tied up in bed. Wow! At any rate, thanks for the warning about the wrist splints! take care and thanks for the smile.
