    • About Me

My name is Lily Ann. I'm 54, live in Surrey, BC, Canada.I have a wonderful supportive husband of 7 years, combined children of 3 and 5 grandchildren. We are both in the health & wellness industry & are very proud of the nutritional programs we can provide to absolutely everyone. These products are safe for all to use. I wish I would have known about the meal replacement smoothies before my weight dropped to 103 lbs and had my MDV. I would like to share hope & health as I know exactly how TN patients feel.

Hi Pearl, I am going to have a thin slice MRI (waiting on insurance) in a month & then see what it shows. My gut feeling is (and a neurologist did suggest this) that I have a birth defect of having too many blood vessels there causing compression against the nerve. I have had headaches almost daily since birth. When I was young I thought my Mother could feel my pain through her hand on my head. And I would ask her "to feel my head". I am afraid the MVD surgery would leave me ending up like Lee who wrote the book about Janetta. I had sinus surgery which was supposed to help my facial & head pain in 2004 but I ended up with Sphenopalatine Neuralgia from the scar tissue (my cheek feels like it is rotting). I also have TN on both sides of my face. At this point I would need surgery in three places. I am going to get some serious muscle work done (2 - 3 times a week) with a Doctor who has worked with people in my condition & I am going the holistic route for a month. I don't even think I am going to get the nerve blocks that I have scheduled in a couple of weeks. I didn't respond well to botox at ALL. I am worried about having a bad reaction to the nerve blocks. What do you think Pearl? I am giving YOU a hug & I wrote all about ME.... I am such a dork! I love the name Pearl ;o)

    • Close Trigeminal Neuralgia

Starting with pain in my face from 1996, it felt like a bad toothache. Dentists over the years did not diagnose the pain. I had 2 root canals & 1 molar pulled though. In 2003. a new young Doctor diagnosed TN. I was put on Gabapentin & acetaminophen w/codeine. As pain got worse & I dropped to 103 lbs, my Doctor sent me to a Neurologist. An MRI was done & I was sent to a Neurosurgeon. A blood vessel was wrapped around the Trigeminal Nerve. The MVD was done August/2005. I have been pain-free since.

      Treatments

      Neurontin Somewhat Helpful
Helped somewhat with pain but dosage had to be increased constantly. From (9) 100mg/day to (16) 300mg/day. Some dry mouth.
      Equetro Not Working
Neurologist prescribed - had an allergy reaction - rash & problems breathing. It did not seem to work at all.
    • Close Arthritis

Was diagnosed with osteoarthritis May/07 - will see a RA specialist Feb/08. Pain started in the base of my left thumb and has travelled to my right thumb, both wrists, both feet and ankles, knees & hips. At only 54 its scarey. I know chronic pain from having Trigeminal Neuralgia(TN)10 years before MVD surgery Aug/05. So far I am not taking pain meds as I beleive the drugs I took for TN made my body so dehydrated & acidic that my joints were eaten away. (www.watercure.com)has helped

      Treatments

      Anti-Inflammatory Diet Working / Worked
Drinking lots of purified water(8-10 glasses) & extra unrefined sea salt on food as per www.watercure.com Pain is not as severe.
      MSM Too Soon to Tell
      Magnesium Working / Worked
morning evening. Also use lots of epsom salts2 cups in a hot bath.
