I am a mother of three beautiful girls who are grown but still in the area. I am a violin teacher and a musician in my church praise band. My mother lives with me along with my husband and one of our daughers. Mom has alzheimers, and my daughter is on temporary disability due to migraines.

It's the very best of what I've got to offer you, April. I am storming the gates of heaven on your behalf. God is faithful and He loves you soooo much. He is close to the broken-hearted and is the lifter of our heads. He sees you in the secret places and longs for you to experience the joy of His salvation. I will continue to pray for you daily. thanks for understanding stringlady...i'm definately going to take you ideas under advisement...i do have my faith to fall back on...actually that's what keeps me going...i've got one day week (Sunday) resolved...its the only thing i look forward too right now...now its just the other six days i need to work on...but i want to do it alone...if you know what i mean...anyway...thanks again.... -DR-

Close Alzheimer's Disease
Stage: Early OnsetMy mother is 82 and living with us since 2005. Her short term memory is non existent. She cannot follow even the simplest of instructions. She seems happy and is generally cooperative. I am so angry to watch her memory slipping away.
Treatments
- Aricept Not Working
- It seemed helpful at first. She could not tolerate the full dose so is at 1/2 dose. I see steady losing of ground in the memory department.
Close Depression
Type: Seasonal Affective DisorderI have dealt with mild to moderate depression all my life. As I get older it gets more difficult. Especially in the winter. I am trying St. Johns Wort and would love to talk to someone else who has used it.
Treatments
- Lexapro Somewhat Helpful
- Tried this and it seemed somewhat helpful and then turned into flu and fatique symptoms big time. Stopped at that point.
- Paxil Not Working
- Tried once and don't remember why I stopped . Something about side effects.
- Positive Thinking Working / Worked
- Feel this is important and find it helpful. Can't always do it.
- Psychotherapy Working / Worked
- This has been helpful. I have found that my therapists seem to move, or I move putting an end to sessions. Starting up with someone new is always a challenge.
- Support from Friends & Family Working / Worked
- It really helps to have others rooting for you. When I am in my moods to be alone and not interact it doesn't much matter that there are others who care.
- Writing Working / Worked
- This is one of the most important tools I have in my life. I am often too busy to do this, but I should do it daily.
- Zoloft Not Working
- Tried once and don't remember why I stopped. Something about side effects.
