About Me
I am a wife of 12 years and the mother of a wonderful 11 year old girl. My passion is my family first and foremost. My husband was diagnosed with RCC on 9/25/08. The tumor grew into his heart and he had surgery to remove the right kidney, tumor and the tumor in the heart and from the vena cava. Surgery was on the 10th of Oct 2008. He is home and recovering well. We were fortunate to have it discovered and taken care of in a matter of 3 weeks. I thank the Lord every day for that otherwise he would not have made Christmas this year.

Deb, I am new to having RCC myself and my has started to spread but they took everything they could. I have noticed that this is hard on the family but be strong and ask lots of questions to your drs, friends and anyone who will listen someone will have been through the same thing. Be strong and trust God.

Thanks so much Debby, i will try and get some good sleep tonight, i don't know if i can, but i will try, we'll be leaving at 5 am to check in at 5:45 am, surgery is at 7:30 , so it'll be a long morning, but Tim and i feel good about it, so thanks so much for all your good thoughts and prayers, they are appreciated very much, i'll let you know as soon as i can... dear Debby, they only did my midsection right now but I hve tumors in my left breasr which are not cancer right now but they are watching them. Hve they done his surgury yet ? My prayers are with you also. We are in florida right now at my childrens home. My daughter is coming back to Texas with us next week. I am feeling fine and hope you nd your husband are doing great also. need to go and help my daughter pack. Will be back in touch soon.

Close Renal Cell Carcinoma (Kidney Cancer)
Sept 25, 2008 my husband was diagnosed with kidney cancer. We were referred to a Urology expert near Boston where we were told he would have to have a nephrectomy. We found out the tumor had grown up the vena cava and into the right atrium of his heart. Needless to say we have been scared, depressed,nervous and anything else you can think of. Worst part was telling our 11 yr old daughter. We are post surgery and know that it is stage 3 and a 4 on the Furman scale.
Treatments
- Nephrectomy Working / Worked
- Surgery seemed to have helped at this point. We were told that they have removed all of the tumor from the vena cava and the heart and the kidney was removed along with the lymph nodes and adrenal gland.
