Close Fibromyalgia
I have had fibromyalgia for many year, officially diagnosed by rheumatologist. The high dose naprosym heprescribed most made me gain 20 pounds. Stopped the medication andlost two pounds in less then two weeks. I have been accepted into a study program for reboxetine for fibromyalgia and was pleased to come across this site, as well as being encouraged by results noted there.
Treatments
- Acupuncture Somewhat Helpful
- It helped for the moment with no lasting relief.
- Aqua Therapy Working / Worked
- Ongoing. When I slip into the hot tub, all the pain goes away. However, when I get out of it, the pain returns.
- Effexor Somewhat Helpful
- I guess it helped a little. Made me sleepy all the time. Discontinued over a year ago.
- Elavil Working / Worked
- I take 50 mgs in the efening. Within 30 minutes after taking the pill, I have pain relief. Sometimes I take one in the daytime if I am really hurting.
- Guaifenesin Working / Worked
- I take from 1200 to 2400 mgs per day when I am in a cycle of pain. It does help, and makes my foot-slapping gait go away, as well as improving the neuropathy of fibromyalgia in my toes on one foot.Main side effect for me and my sister who also has fibromyalgia is that it makes us so hot. Cannot tolerate it in the hot summertime.
- Lyrica Working / Worked
- It did seem to help with the pain. I was on it originally after knee replacement and horrible nerve pain requiring a block. The Lyrica ultimately caused me to be so confused that I could not drive, felt like there were blank places in my brain. I lost two diamond rings, and I threw away new prescriptions. Stopped medication after discussion with my pharmacist.
- Neurontin Somewhat Helpful
- Took only briefly as it did not help.
- TENS Somewhat Helpful
- Seemed to help a little but not near enoough to fool with it.
- Ultram Somewhat Helpful
- Maybe a little helpful but took only very short term.
- Zanaflex Working / Worked
- Prescribed by my pain doctor. I take only when I am having lots of pain in my neck, shoulder, and upper back which pain has been attributed to fibromyalgia by my rheumatologist.
- Guaifenesin Working / Worked
- dIt has helped alot. When I fail to take is regularly, my foot-slap gait returns as well as increaesd pain. Causes dry mouth and sweating.
- Aqua Therapy Working / Worked
- Helps alot temporarily. Upon getting out of hot tub and getting chilled, pains returns. Cold weather makes me hurt more.
