Peanut Butter dog cookies :

3/4 C PB

1 small container yoghurt  or 1/2 C

3/4 - 1 C water

1/2 C baby rice cereal

3/4 C Cornmeal

1/2 tsp. Turmeric

2-3 c wheat or white flour(I use white because my dog is allergic to wheat)

*Mix PB and yoghurt,and 1/2 C water

*Blend well

*Gradually add rice cereal, cornmeal, and turmeric, blending until mixed well

*Gradually add flour and the remaining water until dough forms the right consistency.

It will be thick enough to roll out and the consistency of bread dough.

Dough can be rolled out and cut with cookie cutters, dropped in nickel size drops on cookie sheet,or roll out all the dough, cut into 1/2 in. pieces all at one time, then cook.

* Bake at 300 F for about 15 min.,or until light brown.

*Turn oven down to 150 F,and bake 1-2 hours for crispness.

Can be baked on a cookie sheet lightly oiled or on parchment paper.

I live at 5000 feet so this is a high altitude recipe, which is why times and flour content may vary a little.Usually at lower altitudes calls for less flour, but no matter how they come out the dog loves them.

Chicken and Garlic Cookies:

Substitue 2 jars chicken baby food instead of PB,and add 1/4 clove finely minced or crushed garlic.

ENJOY!!!

Oh, cool, Jen! Is it the turmeric that repels them? Interesting! Thanks!

Yep sure is,garlic too.The chicken and garlic treat works better but Max LOVES PB so I needed to make something that was healthy enough for him to eat on a reg. basis.;)

This is a much healthier alternative to the cookies I sometimes bake (sometimes we take are chance of getting e-coli and just eat the dough) By the way, can you eat peanut butter? My dogs love it and would probably prefer the top version. Thanks for sharing! Love, Debby
