About Me
I am a trauma survivor who struggled with undiagnosed chronic-extreme PTSD for 25 years. And then I was diagnosed and went on a healing rampage! Now, I'm into my second year of being 100% PTSD-free. It is possible to bridge the gap between trauma and a joyful life. Visit my healing PTSD blog (http://blog.healmyptsd.com) for healing info and to join our free, ongoing PTSD healing workshop.

Close Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
At the age of 13 I survived Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis Syndrome -- and then I survived 25 years of extreme PTSD that physically and mentally debilitated me. Finally, I was healed by 2 things: 1) deliberately constructing a post-trauma identity, and 2)hypnotherapy. There is hope! Visit www.healmyptsd.com for info on healing PTSD.
Treatments
- Art Working / Worked
- Published poetry and stageplays; did not heal me. In fact, allowed me to plunge deeper into the abyss. And then I learned to DANCE. The pursuit of joy through dance started me on my path to freedom.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Working / Worked
- Got me going in the right direction -- out of bed, at least!
- EMDR Somewhat Helpful
- Hard to tell the results with this one....
- Hypnotherapy Working / Worked
- After one session my nightmares flashbacks and insomnia were cured. By the end of 6 sessions the rest of my symptoms had disappeared.
- Psychotherapy Working / Worked
- Broke the isolation and inability to discuss what happened, but in the end, too much talking, not enough acting to get rid of PTSD.
- Reading Working / Worked
- Good to be informed about PTSD. The more knowledge we have the more proactive we can be about curing ourselves.
- Talking Somewhat Helpful
- Way too many years of talk therapy. Then again, it was good to begin talking at all.
