Alyssa, Don't give up because my dad wasn't thrilled either, but when my husband called him out of respect and told my dad how much he loves me and asked for my hand in marriage, my dad warmed up to him. He still seems uncomfortable, as if he's afraid he'll say something that will offend him, which I don't know why, but I'm sure that my dad didn't imagine I'd marry someone outside of my own race when I was a little girl. However, the day I had my baby girl, who is now 9 and we also have a son who is 8, my dad is best buds with our kids. You have to realize that it's different for him too, and in time, he'll realize that no matter what color someone's skin is, as long as they treat you right, he's still going to love you! C
