High Five
Meadow2345 (01/13/09)
I really hate those scare tactics and it's surprising that ads that are so misleading aren't monitored... grrrr! I'm happy to hear though that your friend is showing others that a patient's health comes first, not the physician's pocketbook. And it's no wonder, every time when we visit a doctor, any doctor, there's always one salesman there and treated so nicely. GRRR

wow... .people planted for something so serious. Guess their day will be in court, the dopes. While looking up things on DS, a tv commercial came on which was interesting. It didn't give the pharmaceutical name or drug. The commerical showed an ambulance, emergency room, and the 3 criteria for being there, high HDL, etc. Scare tactics arent't nice, especially since these drugs are hurting not helping. GRRR on them! Have a great day...!

Shout Out

The new doctor was really very thorough and went thru all the records without hurrying. Then he found the cholesterol readings and suggested statins. I went thru the whole thing, and he went thru his whole thing, and we left friends. I told him I really needed to get other things in order before taking any other meds, so I wouldn't be blaming any other problems on statins. The truth is I'll never go on statins again, but have to keep the peace and coat it a bit to do that. He also said I need a cat scan to make sure the calcium spots on my lungs are from TB as a baby. He looked surprised that my GP didn't tell me the results. But that's ancient history and happy that I finally have a good and caring doctor (his mom is a close friend/colleague of my neuro who is my rock). So all's well, even though we don't see eye to eye, it's a mutual respect. Statin free, that's for me is gonna be my motto *s*

I just left a post and am curious... why aren't people on DS looking at information and replying? I know there are so many taking statins, and just guessing that they don't get the connection between side-effects and drugs? Very strange. PS I have a new GP app't on Monday and have to bring reports for bloodwork. I'm curious to see if he pushes statins or let's me decide for myself. Let's take a bet! *s*

Hi MedLab1, I never did see the charts, but if you have them, I'd love to take a look. that has to be VERY interesting, and am guessing now at the outcome. As Americans we sure are different depending on where we live, that's for sure. Many thanks, looking forward to seeing them when you can.

well sir, your'e a good detective, and think we'll clone you for all of NJ because we need someone like you to educate doctors (patients, too, but we're innocent because they're our leaders *s*). Years ago, I was enrolled in a program from a hospital out west, I wish I could remember the name. The program tracked family members and cholesterol. I guess they found my name thru my doctor? But my family dwindled, and no one was left to monitor except myself (all were much older, and no one died from heart disease). So I had to drop out, and never did get reports. One day I hope to remember the name of the place and will look it up and send on any information to you. Just as a funny. The one time I went to a cardio dr. here, she was ticked from the get-to that I wouldn't take statins. She said there's a lipid center in Philly I could go to, but didn't know the name. She didn't even try to look it up. So if she was so concerned about me being a walking time bomb (her words), I'd think she would have called an ambulance to take me there, lol! MedLab1, you just gotta laugh because we'll be here long after they keep calling to pick up our scripts for statins *s*

hello there... I'm older so I remember the recession we had back in 1970, along with the gas crisis in the early 1980's. After that the housing crisis, I think in 1983 or so where people panicked and sold their homes for a lot less than what they purchased them for and were panicking. So you're so right, 10 years does it for this cycle. It's happening all over the world so there's no place to hide *s*. The media is crazy saying no one is flying, what noodleheads! And the gas here is about $1.35 compared to almost $4 last year. Salaries are miserable for ordinary people like me in NJ. I'll always remember Ben Stein's remark (he's that wealthy person who has a tv show where he gives away money). When Hurricane Katrina hit, and people lost everything, he said "well why don't they just go to their summer homes?" Geeze...!

hi, I'm still figuring out the journals, mine and everyone elses. I came across an entry you made in mine, and left a message there this afternoon... it was to thank you for everything, and let you know what's doing with the x-ray report for the spots on my lung, etc. Basically it says my doctor's office is a pain, lol! With that said, many thanks, you're keeping my mental attitude from adding red faces to my journal way too often *s*.
