About Me
I'm married, a mom to a college student and 2 furry family members. I work at home part-time as tech support and my hub runs 5 radio stations. Timber and Carlin (Yorkshire Terrier and Mainecoon Cat) spend their days waiting for treats, napping and playing. We recently moved and I love it here. Really peaceful and that is exactly what I need at this time in my life. I started Methotrexate 2 weeks ago. I take in on Tuesdays and I guess I'm a wimp because I have most of the side effects. Tonight it feels like I'm running a fever and I have flu-like symptoms (but it will pass). The days, except for the day after, are better than the evenings.

I enjoy writing, Internet-ing, researching interests on the computer, Texas Holdem, gardening (when I can), movies, cooking/baking, music, traveling, decorating during the holidays and shopping, when I can afford it. If you play online poker, I go by the name FlippaFlop (or FlipaFlop) at most places.

Close Rheumatoid Arthritis
I was dx with RA in 10/08 and it has turned progressive.
Treatments
- Folic Acid Too Soon to Tell
- I was recently prescribed Folic Acid 1mg to take a day after Methotrexate.
- Methotrexate Too Soon to Tell
- I started Methotrexate last Tuesday, which I take 7.5 mg once per week. Too soon to tell if it is working yet. The side effects were worse last week than this week but I took better precautions this time.
- Prednisone Working / Worked
- I used to take Prednisone and it did help up until the RA became progressive. It has been replaced with Methotrexate.
- Tylenol Working / Worked
- For a day or two after taking Methotrexate, I get aggravating headaches. Tylenol helps.
- Promethazine Working / Worked
- This is to ward off the side effects of Methotrexate. I took half a pill last week because of nausea and it helped. I havent had to take it so far this week.
Close GERD & Heartburn
I was dx with GERD, ulcers, Colitis and chronic inflammation of the throat and stomach in Oct 2008.
Treatments
- Carafate Working / Worked
- I LOVE Carafate...helps tremendously!
- Clindamycin Not Working
- I had the same allergic reaction to this as I did Flagyl. UGH!
- Dietary Modification Working / Worked
- I've had to cut out a LOT of foods, even good foods like fruits. It's working but it is hard to give up food.
- Prilosec Working / Worked
- Helps
Open Coronary Heart Disease
I was dx with coronary artery spasms and HBP in August 2007.
Treatments
- Lisinopril Working / Worked
- 10 mg twice per day just started
Open Back Pain
I was dx with ruptured disks, stenosis and bone spurs in 2003. I was dx with RA in 10/08 and it has turned progressive. Because I have stomach and heart issues, I cannot take NSAIDS at all.
Treatments
- Carisoprodol Working / Worked
- 350 mg three x per day. It helps but I'm beginning to build a tolerance so I'm going to give Flexeril another try.
- Chiropractic Adjustment Working / Worked
- It really helped when I was using Chiropractic care but can't afford it right now.
- Cortisone (Injection) Working / Worked
- It helps but made me moody and I swelled up like a balloon.
- Flexeril Too Soon to Tell
- I'm giving this medication another chance. I'm becoming tolerant to Soma plus it makes me sleepy during the day.
- Heat Working / Worked
- I love my heating pads.
- Massage Working / Worked
- I love getting a good deep massage and they make me feel so good. I have to drink a lot of water afterwards though or I feel like I am rung out for two days afterwards.
- Morphine Working / Worked
- 100 mg twice per day.
- Oxycodone Working / Worked
- 30 mg three x per day.
Open Chronic Pain
I have progressive RA and back problems. MRI: ruptured discs, stenosis and bone spurs in cervical and lumbar areas.
Treatments
- Heat Working / Worked
- Heat (or ice, as the situation calls for) is always a good idea.
- Morphine Working / Worked
- 100 mg. 2x per day. Works.
- Oxycodone Working / Worked
- Roxicodone 30 mg 3 times per day.
- Pets Working / Worked
- My sweet yorkie, Timber, has been with me for 8 years and is a great comfort. She's not a pet, she is a family member.
- Carisoprodol Working / Worked
- I take Soma 3x per day for muscle spasms. It works. Flexeril works well too but gives me massive headaches.
