Close Myasthenia Gravis
In january of 08 started having problems walking, chewing, talking and swallowing. Got the flu in february and symtoms got worse. Was diagnosed with having a nervous break down and being mute. Admitted myself in the hospital in May and was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis. Started on prednisone and mestinon. Taken off prednisone because it didn't help. Am now on Imuran 300mg day and I take 840mg of mestinon. I have had 2-5 day treatments of IVIG. Liver function showed up abnormal on last test.
Treatments
- Azathioprine Not Working
- Take 300mg day. Going on my 6th month of being on it. Nausea and diarrhea within 2 hrs of taking it twice a day.
- IVIG Working / Worked
- Had one treatment in July and one in October of this year for 5 days. Starts working for me about 7-10 days after the last treatment. Lasts about a month.
- Mestinon Working / Worked
- I take 2 and 1/4 pills every three hours. Without it I would not be able to do anything. Side effects are excessive sweating on my hands and feet, stomach pain and excessive saliva.
- Prednisone Not Working
- took for 4 months up to 60 mg - felt worse.
Close Thrombocytopenic Purpura
I got ITP at age 13. I had a splenectomy at 14. I had spontaneous remission. Went out of remission at age 19 after giving birth to my daughter. Was put on Cytoxan for 6 months and have been in remission since.
