    • Close Depression
      Type: Clinical (Major) Depression

I have depression the majority of my life . My family has always been very supportive, but I still feel alone at times.

      Treatments

      Celexa Not Working
I tried this, but it did not seem to work for me. :(
      Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Considering
I have heard that this program really works, but my insurance does not cover it.
      Lexapro Not Working
Tried this, but was not on it for a long enough period of time.
      Meditation Considering
I have heard that this works.
      Psychotherapy Working / Worked
This has helped in the past, and when I have more money, I will go back to a counselor. I wish they were not so expensive.
Support from Friends & Family Working / Worked
I am lucky to have a loving and caring family.
      Writing Working / Worked
I believe that it helps to keep a record of your thoughts and work out what you are thinking. Especially when you are having a bad day, you can look back to see what you were doing on a 'good day' and try to repeat that.
      Lamictal Working / Worked
I started this 4 weeks ago and it has really helped! It is primarily an anti seizure medication but they also use it for depression as well. My close friend and cousin are on it too. It is worth a try if the other SSRIs have not brought you much success.
    • Close Alcoholism

Both my father and grandparents were alcoholics. I have had had my problems with it in the past, and given the family history, I have been dry for 2 years.

      Treatments

12 Step Program Working / Worked
      Al-Anon Working / Worked
I go to meetings, and it helps. My father goes to AA meetings as well. His sobriety has helped our relationship.
    • Open Anxiety

I have always been a worry sport. I tend to always be thinking about everything that is going on in life....wondering if the bills will be paid, if my family/friends are happy, and so on. My brain seems to never shut off. On the plus side, I was always an A+ student b/c I was obsessed with nothing less than perfection.

      Treatments

      Xanax Working / Worked
This has worked in the past, but I try not to use it unless I have a panic attack.
    • Open Bereavement

I lost both of my grandparents.

      Treatments

      Getting Angry Not Working
Anger is the second phase in the 'dealing with death' process. I have moved beyond that because no matter how angry I was, it would not bring back those that I lost.
      Music Somewhat Helpful
Music seems to help because it can express those feelings that we cannot ourselves put into words. Peter Gabriel "in Your Eyes" is a good song.
      Pets Working / Worked
I have a lab puppy. She is a bundle of love and occupies most of my free time. (7 wks old).
      Prayer Working / Worked
I believe that having a sense of religion has helped me cope with the loss of my grandparents. They were really close to me. Even though it has been several years since they have passed on, I still find myself wanting to pick up the phone and call them as if they are still there. Going to church helps me feel closer to them because it is something that they did their entire lives, and I feel a sense of their being there.
      Reading Somewhat Helpful
Reading books by authors such as In C.S. Lewis on Death and Dying, has been insightful in understanding the grieving process and how to work through it.
Support from Friends & Family Working / Worked
There is nothing better than the help and support of your friends and family!
      Talking Working / Worked
For me, talking things through with a close friend or family member has helped to deal with the emotions that I was experiencing. It does not always solve them as a miracle cure, but helps improve things.
      Time Not Working
They say time heals all wounds. Whoever said that was on drugs in my opinion.
    • Open Obesity

I am diagnosed as Obesity III patient. need to take drastic steps to loose weight. I'm only 30 and do not wish to live the life that I have been. With the help of my doctors, and a proper exercise routine, I know I can loose the weight. It will take a while, but it is possible.

      Treatments

Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Working / Worked
I have given up soda. It was really hard to do, but it has cut my daily calories intake drastically. I also have better glucose levels b/c I'm not drinking the pure sugar anymore.
      Gastric Bypass Surgery Considering
I have been thinking of this, but hope I can do it on my own. Heard bad stories of side effects of this procedure.
Overeaters Anonymous (OA) Working / Worked
This is a great program, and if you wish to know more about it, drop me a msg.
Physical Exercise Too Soon to Tell
Just started swimming and water aerobics at the YMCA.
      Swimming Somewhat Helpful
      It is helping. :)
      Topamax Working / Worked
This seems to help my appetite levels a lot!
