Close Alcoholism
I have been an alcoholic / addict for 6 years. I entered sobriety in February of 2008. My life is infinitely better because of it. There are times I still struggle.
Treatments
- 12 Step Program Working / Worked
- The answers to all of my problems are in the Big Book. Sounds corny...but true.
- AA Meetings Working / Worked
- Food for the soul.
- Cold Turkey Not Working
- I couldn't do it. I would try ... swear it off ... then pick it back up.
- Sleep Working / Worked
- Remeber HALT (hungry, angry, lonely, tired).
- Willpower Not Working
- My best thinking got me where I am today, so it obvioulsy wasn't working.
- Prozac Working / Worked
- I take 60 mg once daily. It works well with my other meds. The only side effects were sexual.
- BuSpar Working / Worked
- I take 30 mg twice daily. This med was prescribed to fix the sexual side effects and general anxiety.
Close Meth Addiction & Recovery
I have been a crystal meth addict for 5 years. It was my best friend, my girlfriend, my love. It was also killing me. I have been off meth since February of 2008 and my life is infinitely better.
Treatments
- Narcotics Anonymous (NA) Working / Worked
- Going to meetings and working the steps is the only thing that keeps me sober. It keeps me focused on the solution versus the problem.
- Sleep Working / Worked
- My body still tries to make up for lost sleep.
