BLOODY MARY, "HAPPY TALK" FROM "SOUTH PACIFIC". Jesus Christ--a good moral teacher? C.S. Lewis 'Mere Christianity' page 56 I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: "I'm ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don't accept his claim to be God." That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a good moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic-on a level with the man who says he is a poached egg-or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God: or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronising nonsense about His being a great moral teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.

    • I’m With You

      From DennisE45 October 11

      Brian,
I also am a widower, 8 months last Sunday. I am one that has seen death his
whole life. Lost my Dad when I was 13, my only brother when I was 26, and my
Mom at 35. Experiencing death in those circumstances, but when you experience
the death of a soulmate, it's a whole new ballgame.
I read your journal, well said! You only have to be yourself here!
I liked that quote you added at the end. Each of us should write that on paper and
tape it to the bathroom mirror.
My wife, Debby & myself were already Christians for much of our adult lives.
God in His own way prepared me for when her life would end, mainly through things told me by her doctors. Of course, most times we are so badly prepared
when that does happen. I do know that if I had not had God in my life, who knows
what path my life would have taken. God has gotten me through a whole bunch.
Know that you do have a friend.

I read your post. I think what you said about friendships is accurate. Just had a major disappointment in that area of someone I practically thought of as family. Good way to tell what kind of friend a person really is, is to have a problem that they might be able to help you with, then see if they will help you or not. Doesn't matter if they offer to help, they still may run if they think they might have to actually do something to help. Doesn't even matter if you have been helping them with everything they ask you to do for them for 13yrs. and never asked anything in return until now, they still think it's okay to brush you off. Well, their loss when you figure out what catagory they are in. Don't have to waste anymore time, energy or money on that one anymore, they picked their catagory.
About the loss of your loved ones. What could I possibly say that could give you comfort? I don't know, I'm not that good with words. But my heart goes out to you.
