About Me
I am 57 years old. I have multiple sclerosis (MS), and it has compromised a lot of my abilities. Due to MS, I can't go on walks, hike, fish, skate, get myself up off the floor, climb stairs, or walk my dog. There are times when I can't get myself up from a chair or the toilet. This past December, after a three-year wait, I was matched with an awesome black Lab named Montana. He is big (87 lbs.), sturdy, smart, and a whole lot of fun. He walks on my left, balancing me if I start to fall. He helps me up off the floor and up from the toilet and low chairs. He can get the phone in an emergency and bring it to me. He picks up things I drop, like my cane or a sock or a pen. Because he is a certified service dog, Montana goes everywhere with me. This wonderful dog has changed my life.

Merry Christmas from a fellow Virginian (Ashland). Hope this year brings us some hope for a new and wonderful drug to stop the madness. I too am not working but have been writing for helium.com. Not the greatest site as most of the folks there are professional writers. I have learned a bit so will try my hand at blogging. Perhaps I will use your site!!! Type: Loss of a ChildMy 13-year-old son died in June of 1993. My husband was the one who helped me the most by making me begin to go places, even though I didn't want to. Ten months after my son died, we rented a pontoon boat and took it out on a lake for a couple of hours. That made me feel like I had walked out of a dark room and into the sunshine.
