Thank you for responding to my post kriscj. The Microdermabrasion can feel slightly irritating to the active lesions, but still well worth it. Skin is much smoother after. I'd say it definitely looks better overall than if I had just left it alone. I'm stubborn, I will keep fighting this as aggressively as I can, but always looking for new methods. People can go into remission in any type of Lupus, trying to find out how to get there and keep my face from getting destroyed in the meantime. I know I'm lucky as it is not known to be life threating, but there is little research and information out there and I have trouble finding others like myself. Thank you so much! Meggy

I was diagnosed in Sept. 1999. I had just graduated highschool in June.That summer after graduation I noticed a raash on my eyelid that wouldn't seem to go away. Later. the morning I would wake up really stiff. Sometimes my body hurt so much all I could do is lay there. Then I noticed I started getting rashes on my arms. I decided to go to the dermatologist. Got blood test & was diagnosed.
Treatments
- Cellcept Not Working
- Didn't do much for my kidneys. Eventually had to start chemo.
- Cyclosporine Somewhat Helpful
- I was on that for a while, but I had to get off because of the long term damage.
- Plaquenil Working / Worked
- This is the 1st drug I was put on. still taking it, but now I am wearing glasses because it effects your vision.
- Prednisone Working / Worked
- I've been taking this for a long time. About 4 years ago it really blew me up. I wanted to eat everything.side effects are minimal now because i'm on a low dosage.
- Rituxan Working / Worked
- Kidneys are still good. Wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Gave me a little rash during treatment, but a steroid got rid of it

Type: Clinical (Major) DepressionI have been off and on anti-depressants for about 3 years. I believe my depression is from lupus. I was diagnosed with that in 1999.
Treatments
- Positive Thinking Somewhat Helpful
- I try to just stay positive but then I get in my mood where I feel helpless.I'm up and down.
- Wellbutrin Somewhat Helpful
- The wellbutrin had helped prevously but now I feel like it isn't working as good. I was on 150mg now 300.
- Zoloft Not Working
- The zoloft didn't help much. I had a lost of interst in sex and gave me dry mouth.
