I am a 47 year old female, working as an adult education instructor. I have a long family history of PKD. I have 3 wonderful children and an awesome husband. My family is very important to me, and a lot of the reason I am doing great! My job, family and friends keep me busy. I would not be this far without all the love and support of family and friends.

Close Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD)
I am a 47 year old female, with a long family history of PKD. Lost a lot of family members due to PKD. Lost both my mom and brother last year. I have had a rough 4-5 years. I just received a kidney transplant in Aug 08. Feel better than I have in a long time! Yeeha! My advice: Stay positive!! It works!
Treatments
- Dialysis Working / Worked
- Was on dialysis for one year in center. With a different nurse everyday, I had a rough time each day. After both kidneys were removed, I had to have brain surgery, we decided to try home hemo. I totally recommend it if it available to you! A great commitment to the person administering it, but totally worth it!
- Kidney Transplant Working / Worked
- So far very good! I feel better than I have in a long time! Meds took a little time to get used to lots of nausea but much better than dialysis. Im free!!
