About Me
I am a 4th year undergraduate student at Northeastern University studying behavioral neuroscience. I am interested in applying to medical school soon! I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease when I was 18 years old and have been living gluten free ever since. My parents have recently split up and are in the middle of a nasty divorce, and being the oldest child of the family, most of the issues have fallen on my shoulders. I have problems with anxiety and depression, and in my heart feel that I have seasonal affective disorder, although it has never been diagnosed. I have been seeing a therapist for the better part of 10 years now, and I absolutely love it. I recommend therapy to all my friends and loved ones going through a hard time.

Thanks so much for your message. Your response said all the things I've been trying to figure out how to put words to. It was so good to see, to know that others are in very similar situations.

you're welcome

I understand how you feel about your parents. My father cheated on my mother when she was pregnant with me and left when I was 6 months old and left my mother to raise 5 children ages 6 months- 5 years old on her own. Just be strong and supportive for your mother. It's not easy, but you will be able to get though this.

Just wanted to give you a hug. Better days are coming for you. Here, ya go - BIG HUG!

Close Celiac Disease
I was going through a very tough transition point in my life and found myself having awful GI symptoms. I figured that stress was the culprit and didn't think too much about it. I started losing weight and not being able to eat without having awful cramping and bloating. I finally went to the doctor and they tested me for everything under the sun before sending me to the gastroenterologist. I found out in March 2006 that I had Celiac Disease, and have been gluten-free ever since!
Treatments
- Gluten Free Diet Working / Worked
- Its so hard! I am a college student on a tight budget, and I do all of my own cooking and shopping. I do not have a meal plan because my school is not gluten friendly. I have a hard time paying for all of the gluten free items I would like to have. Other than the cost issue, the diet is working for me! I have felt great on the diet. I find it hardest to find when I am out with my friends on a Friday or Saturday night, when they are having pizza and beer out at the local bar or pub.
