Back to the Hospital :-( Mood
Thursday, November 5, 2009

So,

As I said in my last entry.  I was supposed to start back to work on Monday, 10/26.  Well, Anaysa and I were both sick so we stayed home Monday and Tuesday.  I went to work on Wednesday, but that night Anaysa's fever got so high that I didn't feel comfortable taking her to day care.  I worked from home on Thursday and that was the plan for Friday too.  Well, her fever was still high (even after tylenol) on Friday so I took her to the doctor and they ordered blood work.  We went home but within the hour they called us back and told us the labwork looked odd and to go to our local ER to have the blood re-drawn.  They did and the lab work showed extremely high white blood cell counts.  This had everyone very worried and we were instantly checked into the hospital for futher testing.

At this point, Anaysa's fever was closing in on 104 and she wasn't eating, peeing, pooping...or really doing anything.  She went from my amazingly happy baby to a lethargic baby that was sleeping about 20 hours a day (fitfully off/on so it was tiring for all involved!).  Anyway, we checked into the hospital and they determined that a bacterial infection was causing the issue but they couldn't pin point where the infection was.  They started her on antibiotics and this made her symptoms go away, but they still don't know the cuase of the infection.  We were in the hospital Friday-Tuesday and they sent us home with 8 days worth of medication.  After the medicine gets out of her system she's going back to the doctor for lab work.  We're praying that that comes back clean.

On the happy side, she had a nuerology (sp?) appt. yesterday and that went great!  We're still confused as to why she had the siezures, but it's been determined that they were "one time" events and shouldn't happen again.  She's hitting all her milestones and is showing up negative for epilepsy (sp?!)!!! Yay!!

Anyway, she seems to be doing great now.  I just hope it keeps up after she gets off the medicine.  We're having so much fun with her and I really do enjoy being a mommy. It's so much fun!  Now we just have to decide if we're going for number two :-)
