Thank you for your reply to my post. I actually felt my tailbone, thank goodness, no fatty pad!!! I have a herniated disc at L5-S1 that's turned chronic and nerve problems in both legs. I'm guessing it's related to that and chronic nerve root irritation, but I have to see another neurologist for a definitive answer as to why I had the problem I did last weekend. So far, it hasn't happened again, so I'm happy about that. I see from your status that you are sick. I hope you feel better soon and that your kids stop bringing home those colds!!! I used to work at a YMCA, I've never been sick that many times in one year! I hope you like it here at DS, I've found so much help and support, it's the only thing that's kept me sane through this whole back pain nightmare. Plus, there's so many groups for everything you can think of. I'm here for you if you ever need me, I'm understanding, a great listener/reader and very caring. Also, I've had back pain for 6 years so I think that qualifies me as an expert, hahaha! Have a wonderful night and a sunshiney morning... Much love, Lisa

Hurt my lower L5 years ago when I was weight lifting. Never the same since. Had a rough childbirth in Jan 2007 and has been hell since. Had all sorts of tests done, Rheumatologists, chiro, you name it.. can't figure out what the deal is.
Treatments
- Bedrest Not Working
- laying flat on my back makes it worse. Forget the pillow behind the knees.. too painful!
- Chiropractic Adjustment Working / Worked
- works.. but not long term... eventually ends up worse again down the road
- Heat Somewhat Helpful
- Only works in helping relax the muscle cramps that crook me over like a bent noodle..
- Stretching Somewhat Helpful
- Sometimes can stretch out the muscle cramps associated with the pain, but usually can't even do that, as it is very painful.
- TENS Working / Worked
- Get this done at my chiro's... want to steal this wonderful little machine and hook myself up permanently!
Open Breakups & Divorce
Told husband of 5 years married, 11 years as a couple that I wanted a divorce. Left him, and my business. Moved to another province to start new life after meeting new man. Ex held all my assets (half the property, half the house, half the RRSPS etc) over my head and made me sign them all over to him in order to take our daughter with me as primary parent. To boot, I am supposed to pay for flights for her to visit him every two weeks.
Treatments
- Forgiveness Somewhat Helpful
- Hard to forgive. Although I initiated the leaving and the pending divorce, I feel cheated because of how everything transpired.
- Leave Somewhat Helpful
- Never easy to start over mid-life with children involved, but distance makes it a little easier.
- Love Somewhat Helpful
- Try to remain positive and see the benefit there was to leaving vs. the loss of monetary/material things.
- Pets Working / Worked
- Managed to save one of 4 personal pets.. my dog. Lost my horse, my daughter's horse, my beautiful cat and one of her "kittens'. (Horses had to be sold, cat had to be put down because I couldn't find a home for her and other cat still lives with him)
- Support from Friends & Family Working / Worked
- Always great to have people to talk to.. whether they privately agree or disagree is sometimes not relevant!
- Time Somewhat Helpful
- Getting easier as time progresses. Everything occured so fast that it left me reeling.
Open Parenting 'Tweens (9-12)
10 year old daughter going on 21
Treatments
- Education (School) Working / Worked
- smart kid.. good grades.. not so good on the focusing
- Patience Working / Worked
- lots of that!
Open Depression
On effexor (generic brand) for GAD (general anxiety disorder). Has helped lots with the irritable bowel thing, but NO labido anymore and chronic yawning is a huge issue. On the max. dose that can be perscribed by a hospital at the moment.. but not wanting to stay on this stuff forever either.
Treatments
- Psychotherapy Not Working
- I think I need to chat to someone else.. I find my doctor very dull and boring.. I would get more feedback from a freshly painted wall.
- Wellbutrin Not Working
- didn't work for me. Doc suggested Viagra but that scared me off.. that's not for women to take, I feel.
Open Parenting Toddlers (1-3)
20 month old boy.. soooo much energy!! Wow, totally different from daughter.!
