Close Fibromyalgia
I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia for the last 15 year. I first started having seizures when I was 30 in 1989. Due to the fact that I was well over 450lbs., I was faced with the dire option of brain surgery, to see what was causing my seizures or gastric bypass. I chose gastric bypass. My health has gone down-hill ever since. I have tried almost every available treatment out there to help and alas, nothing has. Yet I will never give up hope. Pam224
Treatments
- Aqua Therapy Working / Worked
- This has always been a coping mechanism for me before the fibro.
- Cymbalta Not Working
- The weight gain and the sexual side effect were terrible. I didn't find that this helped with the fibro at all. Good for depression.
- Duragesic Patch Not Working
- I had a horrible time with this. I always felt that the delivery system was giving me too much medication,. I also had a problem with the adhesive. I always felt as though my heart was pounding.
- Effexor Not Working
- It caused weight gain and sexual side effect were not good. I didn't find that it helped for fibro.
- Elavil Not Working
- My body can't absorb this class of medications due to the gastric bypass.
- Heat Working / Worked
- Heat seems to work well.
- Lyrica Working / Worked
- This drug was great but the weigh gain was to bad 75lbs in 2 months. I could feel my hands and feet for the first time in years and the burning pain went away, but I could not carry the extra weight around. I am still trying to lose it. It is in the same drug family as neurontin.
- Morphine Not Working
- The side effect were horrible and it caused me to go into seizure.
- Neurontin Not Working
- I didn't have any luck with this drug but I tried this 11 or so years ago and I was on alot of other medication at the time what I do remember was a trememdous weight gain of about 60 to 75 lbs in about 2 to 3 month. it was horrible.
- Ultram Not Working
- This medication did absolutely nothing for me.
- Zanaflex Working / Worked
- This does take away the muscle spasms. The brand name doesn't have the sedating problem that the generic does.
Close Chronic Pain
I have been in chronic pain for the last 19 years. I have many medical problems including fibro, seizures, CIDP, and back problems. I had a gastric bypass in 1991 that saved my life but really destroyed my health.
Treatments
- Cymbalta Not Working
- The problem with the water retention was horrible. I also got bobble head.
- Heat Working / Worked
- This works when nothing else does.
- Lyrica Working / Worked
- This worked but the wieght gain was awful.
- Morphine Not Working
- I had a real problem with this because of the seizures. It seemed to make my seizure activity more active.
- Neurontin Not Working
- This worked but the weight gain was awful.
- Oxycodone Working / Worked
- I am taking both OxyContin, and Percocet and I have found that they have made all the difference
- Topamax Working / Worked
- I take this for my seizures and migraines and the migraines are some what better? I have been on it for about 10 years.
- Zanaflex Working / Worked
Open Insomnia
I have been suffering from insomnia for many years due to chronic pain, fibromyalgia and other medical problems.
