"Feeling better!"

Flying High And Home Again Mood
Sunday, January 11, 2009

Just finished 2 weeks of "vacation".  Actually, it was the best kind for people like us.  I stayed with my 2 children (12 and 13) and my bro-in-law and sis-in-law's house.  I was allowed to sleep as late as I wanted with NO DISTURBANCES.  I did not have to do any housework, or pay bills, or do any house related things.  I got to rest.  I didnt' need to go anywhere.  And so I rested and played with my 2 adorable nieces.  One is 3 years old and can already READ!!  She is able to sound out words and use context clues to read easy books.  She knows all of her letter sounds.  I'm totally blown away by this little girls intelligence.  (Daddy has a degree in Textile Chemistry whatever that is.)  The other niece is only 7 months old and has the sweetest, most loving disposition.  She's the kind of baby that is always smiling, waves back at you with a twinkle in her eye.  Just a pleasure to spend time with both the girls.  And my sis-in-law is a lovely person, gave me space, and is just peaceful in the way she handles things.  It was all lovely.

As for my health, everything seems to be okay.  I've gotten better at giving myself the Kineret shots daily.  They still hurt, but not as much.  For those of you who need to travel with syringes, make sure that you bring the pharmacy LABEL with the dose/medication/doc's name; it helps getting through security, which is always fun for me with the morphine pump.  I get patted down every single time between the pump and my underwire bra.  But it's just a minute and the guards are usually respectful and kind about it.  My flight home was fine, though dull.  USAir has removed in-flight movies ($$ choice, equiptment weighed a lot, not enough people buying the movie).   I was irritated that they charged $15 to bring A PIECE OF LUGGAGE.  And they charge $25 if you want to make a phone reservation for each ticket.  And they hold about 10 seats until the day before the flight and you can "buy" these seats for $15 each to move your place in the plane.  (In my case, I wanted to have my children sitting WITH me.  Can you imagine charging me for THAT?  But there were no other seats together.)  And they now give you NO drinks or food.  By the time they got to us, they were OUT of the food anyway.  So bring your own in the future.

Anyway, we got home safely despite the extra silly charges.  I'm glad to be back in my own bed.

It sounds like you had a wonderful relaxing time. Those are the best vacations. The ones where you are not running out the door all the time to do stuff. It is amazing how much smarter kids are these days. My nephews amaze me with how much they know! I'm glad you had a relaxing vacation. I have always said that it is fun to get away, but there's nothing like your own bed to sleep in! :) Cheryl
