Well, my C-RP (C-Reactive Protein) came back looking good too! It was .8; normal is under 1.0!!! Yippee! Normal labs for the first time in years! Santa's obviously left me an early gift this year; I guess it wouldn't fit in a stocking, right?

Terrific! Yes, The Kineret must be the answer for you! How about putting an ice pack on the area before you give the shot? Do you still have the spray? Did that work? I hope it gets easier for you. It is really great what it has done for you. What a great Christmas gift! :) Cheryl

I've tried ice, I've tried the spray. Nothing works very well unfortunately. But it only burns for a minute. The funny thing is that I don't have any redness or swelling from the shots. You'd think that with that much pain I was having some type of inflammatory reaction, but obviously I'm not. I am, though, getting better at giving myself the injections after more than 2 weeks of them daily. And some areas hurt less than others.
I'm going out of town for the holidays and I had to ask my sister-in-law to pick up a sharps container for my syringes. I didn't want to drag that thing WITH me. I'm going to have enough trouble dealing with the syringes on the plane. Although I am having most of the shipped to me there since it's time for a refill. My father had Type I diabetes and took injections several times a day, but I never realized what a hassle it was. His insulin needed to be refrigerated too, but he traveled all over the world. And I never heard him once complain about the shots but by the time I was old enough to understand, he'd been injecting them for years. (He came down with it when I was 2.) Interestingly enough, Type I is the autoimmune form of diabetes, where the body attacks the pancreas and it's located on the same marker as lupus. One of my docs commented that the reason I probably didn't come down with this may have been due to the fact that I've been on drugs like Immuran for so many years. Immuran was found in a trial to prevent patients likely to develop Type I diabetes from developing it. But it's not something you'd want to give for just the risk of a disease. Interesting, huh?
