Thanks so much. You are right. It was very tough going through the whole thing with Jeff. We were 2 hours away from home, I felt very alone. I was not hungry very often, but I ate very poorly...and I was only 1 month out of surgery! I have only lost 72 lbs. so far. It seems so low. SHouldn't I have lost more by now? I want to lose another 85 lbs. My husband has actually lost more than I have. He is down 110 lbs. Maybe I just need to concentrate on exercise more. We belong to the Y and it is great. I have not been very good about going. I typically go when he has to go to rehab (it is in the same location). I am really trying to pay attention to what I eat. Are you still on protein drinks and shakes, etc? Everyone tells me all the time..Oh, you look like you have lost more weight. And, I feel pretty good. But I want to get below 200. Tell me your secret!!! Judy

I had my surgery on september 15 2008 and have lost 82 pounds you are doing so much better than me. I just read your post about clothing and thought wow someone else who is in my boat, I am 5 11 1/2 so I know where your coming from. We are also about the same age I will be 37 in march and I have three children 17, 9, and 4. I wanted to say hi and let you know We are all going through a lot of the same things. Great job on your weight loss so far. By the way I started out at 347 and am now 265.

I'm With You

I remember when my son died that I did not eat for almost a full week. That was my initial reaction to grief. Then I started pigging out. I would sit down with a huge bowl of ice cream topped with every treat imaginable and say to myself, "well, we are going to die anyways, I might as well eat what I want and enjoy it vs. starving and being miserable." That was the exact opposite of what I needed. Being fat takes away your life's pleasures. I can't play with my kids, enjoy sports like I used to, or feel good when I am clothes shopping. I can't wait until I slim down to a smaller size and become more mobile. That is when I can enjoy life and really live until God takes me from here and reunited me with my family on the other side. They will be proud of me for taking this step towards a healthy me. Try to remember that you will be with your parents again someday.

I am sorry about the loss of your parents so young. I completely understand. I lost my 16 year old son almost 7 years ago and I ate my way through depression. My mom died 3 years ago at age 59, and again I ate. I lost so many relatives during a short span of time and the depression was hard. I know that WLS will help me lose the weight, but I must learn how to fight off depression so I don't ever regain the weight.
