This is Aupa (spanish for upsee daisy). I found Aupa - a he - on the ground. A fellow baby was dead and Aupa was crying pitifully. He was so young that his eyes were not open yet.
I did a make-do rescue and a co-worker (hands above) with experience at this nursed Aupa along until he could go to a refuge--hopefully eventually to be able to swing from tree to tree.
What a treat to be able to see and interact with a cute little being like this!

Thank you! It was so great to see this small being grow and recover to become a very healthy and energetic squirrel.
Aupa put his whole heart into living and took all the loving he could get.
He was inspiring to me to work, rest and play hard!

There is actually a happy ending here. Aupa is with a bunch of other rescued squirrels and doing fine - not too shy - not too bold.
At some point he will be released to the wild where hopefully he will have plenty of tree adventures!

that was great rescuing Aupa,?the floral piece in the photo,did you paint that? when I see it I think of a loving hand holding all unhappy/sad souls.
