Removing fragrance from yarn
I tried this once. I pulled the yarn out of the skein and into a bucket of water soap and vinegar. After washing and rinsing and rinsing and rinsing I wound it around towels hung on the backs of two chairs. It dried fairly quickly and the smell was gone! Never again though. It took FOREVER!

I have heard you can use febreeze (if you can handle that. I know I can't) Also, you can place a skein in a lingerie bag or a panty hose leg and toss it in the washer and dryer. Then you don't have to unwind the whole skein, just remove the label

I can't handle febreeze at all (chills, goosebumps, shivers)! I wondered if washing the skein whole would work. I wasn't sure it would remove the scent from the center of the skein. Hmm, I'll have to try that. Thanks! I've got about 100 skeins of yarn in my stash and I can't use ANY of them. It's driving frugal me up the wall. I mean, I GOT THEM ON SALE! I can't just get rid of them! :-)))

Just try it with a skein or two that won't make you cry if something horrible happens to it. Good luck!
