Close Organ Transplants
Types: Kidney (Renal)I was diagnosed with FSGS when I was 15. Went 34 years before I needed a transplant, which I received 2 years ago from my sister. The disease has recurred twice since then, but I am currently doing great. I really like to learn, encourage, and share with other kidney patients.
Treatments
- Cellcept Working / Worked
- I'm on a low dose now (250 mg a.m., 500 mg p.m.). Had a lot of GI troubles from it, so my dose was reduced.
- Kidney Transplant Working / Worked
- My sister gave me a kidney in March 2007. It's working fantastically, and I'm so thankful.
- Prograf Working / Worked
- 2 years post-transplant, I'm taking 2 mg. both a.m. and p.m. and seem to be doing fine. No side effects now that the dose has been lowered.
- Valcyte Working / Worked
- I took this right after transplant for 6 months, I believe. Can't recall the side effects at this time, since I'm 2 years post-transplant.
