hello, I too have HS but have had it for a little over a year and got it when I was pregnant so I had to wait until my son was born to start treating it. The dermatologist I go to only knows to give antibiotics and pain killers which make me sleep most of the time. I'm also embarrassed. They come up in areas that no one wants to see. I can't even hold and cuddle with my baby because of this. I feel your pain.

Close Hidradenitis Suppurativa
I Have suffered from HS For about 10 years I am now 21. I started getting infections and the cysts on my inner thigh When I was 11 by the next year I had the cysts under my arms by 15 they were almost everywhere. My folks had no idea often saying i had poor hygeine so it was my fault.I was put on numerous antibiotics and began steroid shots directly into each cyst.. Sometimes having up to 20 shots at a time.. I have had 2 surgeries and have had a treatment resistent infection known as a MRSA
Treatments
- Avelox Working / Worked
- If you have an issue with really bad infections this will help you but WARNING its really strong and can make you really ill... side effects are pretty bad
- Clindamycin Not Working
- I haxe used clyndomicin for several years with no luck... Not just the pill but the soap, and the cream..
- Doxycycline Too Soon to Tell
- I am seeing a new team of docs at MCV hospital in VA they prescribed me doxycyline about 2 months ago.. I am taking it daily as a preventitive measure not as a cure all... Because my immune system is compromised and I have had isssues with bad infections... and treatment resistant infections
- Enbrel Working / Worked
- I have been taking enbrel now for about 2 months and I must say I am pleased Although I still have numerous open wounds the severe swelling is no longer a problem... and some of my sites have shrunk tremendously... Im definetly exited about this because my pain is manageble now... But WARNING this is some serious stuff my docs are like watching me like a hawk... because enbrel is an immune suppresor... so any sickness becomes bad... Also pregnancy is off limits due to fetus effects...

- I've been on metformin since I was 14... Not sure how it has helped me...
- Oral Contraceptives Not Working
- Birth control hasnt worked for me, and I have no idea what type of effects it will have on my body in the future
- Provera Not Working
- I hate provera because it sends my body into this massive period that puts me on this emotional roller coaster.. I hate it!
