    • About Me

I'm currently a 911 dispatcher and non-traditional college student (older than the average bear). I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism about 8 years ago now. I'm taking a massive dose of meds to keep me regulated right now. However, I hope that as I lose weight it will decrease.

    • Interests

I'm a big HUGE music lover. My favorite groups run the gammit (spelling?). I also play trumpet and have tried learning the acoustic guitar. I also looove coffee and crafts (delve into a little jewelry making at times). I'm also a big reader and love to sit on my porch and read.

Walking in Walmart counts!! When I grocery shop I make sure I do the full circle a couple of times and go up and down the isles at least twice... gives me time to read more labels and check out some different products and a little bending and stretching at the same time.. so dam right it counts in my books. Hope you have a great day. J.

    • Close Hypothyroidism

I never really knew that I had a problem. I just chalked my symptoms to being something I just had to deal with. While seeing a nurse practicioner about a sinus infection, she noticed that one side of my neck felt enlarged/inflammed. She decided to run a panel of tests, including a TSH and T4 screen and suprised me with the results. She told me I needed to see my doctor...that I seemed to be suffering from hypothyroidism. He confirmed her findings and so here I am.

      Treatments

      Synthroid Working / Worked
This treatment seems to work better than any of the other medications I tried previously. Levoxyl made it difficult to go to sleep and gave me horrible headaches.
    • Close Obesity

I've been overweight for most of my life. However, I finally took action a few years back and joined WW, going from 314 to 185 lbs. Then, I got tired of the same foods and quit eating. Gainin all of the weight back and more, I was then diagnosed with severe hypothyroidism and most recently had my gall bladder removed. I'm ready to kick this weight to the curb again this time, but it's going to be a little more difficult. I'm ready for the long haul though.

      Treatments

      Physical Exercise Working / Worked
I did some walking and such, but I found the biggest help to be going to the gym.
      Weight Watchers Working / Worked
I lost over a hundred pounds on the program but gained it all back when I quit. I didn't add variety to my food choices and got burnt out.
