I now believe I acquired GD in 2003 due to major stress in my life, I had symptoms that I recognize now. Today Feb. 10, 09, I was told I have COPD along with the graves'. I know God won't give me more to bear than I can handle. I am a retired bookkeeper/accountant. The widow of a retired US Marine, 5 children, 3 deceased. 9 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren.

Interests
Crafts such as knitting and crocheting are my pastime and it supplies gifts for the holidays usually. I have started a simple pullover sweater and so far, with many breaks, it's coming right along. I am definitely a Nascar freak! I've been to many races in Atlanta, Charlotte and Martinsville.

Close Graves' Disease
My weight dropped drastically. Primary Dr. did a physical inc. blood work, sent me to the hospital for the iodine scan then on to an endo. I just got to the point of double vision so heading into a barrage of tests on my head now, ct scan, specialist eye surgeon, etc. I now have dates of my diagnosis. Primary care doctor told me on 2/8/08 and I saw the endo doctor first time 3/25/08. Eyes, 10/8/08, Iodine infusion CT scan.
Treatments
- Methimazole Working / Worked
- Dr. said it's working and I have to stay on it until my eyes correct. Once the double vision hit me the RAI went back to the shelf.
- Pets Working / Worked
- My dog, Earnhardt is my best friend as I am his. He's a bit chubby for a dacshund but then I was too before graves.
- Prednisone Too Soon to Tell
- 40mg 1xday mornings.
