    • About Me

I'm a breast cancer survivor, wife of 25 years, mother of two grown children, an avid outdoors-woman, a lover of life and learning, a personal trainer, and a breast cancer recovery coach. Everything in life is an opportunity to grow, spiritually, mentally, and in other ways. My life has been full of opportunities, but I didn't always recognize them as such. Cancer taught me to look at things that way. With each new day, I strive to make a memory. It may be my last one and I want it to be as full as possible. My personal blog is at: http://www.elipenelin.com Here's me celebrating being declared breast cancer free: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9lH9vf1550

    • Close Asthma
      Type: Adult Asthma

Diagnosed 6 yrs ago but my doctor didn't give me much information on how to cope. Recently went to see a pulmonologist. Now I'm finally getting some answers.

      Treatments

      Albuterol Somewhat Helpful
Now that they gave me a spacer and showed me why it was important to use a peak flow meter, I'm doing much better. But I think the tests will give me even more options.
      Breathing Exercises Working / Worked
For me, this is the best therapy. I've learned to calm myself, which is good because when panic sets in it's a self feeding cycle.
      Singulair Somewhat Helpful
I'd hate to imagine how stuffy I would be without it!
    • Close Breast Cancer
      Stage: IIB (T3 N0)

Maternal history of BC. Left breast basically emptied in 2004. Reconstruction. Then cancer in the right breast in 2006. Lumpectomy, nodes, radiation. Doing very well -- very fit and active. Will submit to genetic counseling for my daughter's sake.

      Treatments

      Femara Working / Worked
The hot flashes are brutal but it beats joint pain and malaise. I'm not depressed any more either. Tamoxifen was the worst.
