My daughter started having problems at around 11 yrs of age; they got worse; she was misdiagnosed with severe depression & anxiety at age 15. She was finally diagnosed with bipolar II last year and has been doing well on lithium--she's like a different person but has a long way to go. It's been so difficult dealing with her and her illness but I feel bad I didn't know how bad off she really was during the worst of it. She doesn't blame me; says her paranoia made her keep the worst secret.
Close Agoraphobia & Social Anxiety
I have had social anxiety as long as I remember. My first memory of any feeling/emotion is fear; being around people drains me and I feel exhausted afterwards. I have learned to adapt and function; I am 50 yrs old & I don't think this will change.
Open Anxiety
Have felt fear/ anxiety ever since I can remember. Always knew I was different but didn't know what it was until my daughter showed me a web site that listed the symptoms and I said "Thats me!"
Open Dizziness & Vertigo
In March I tried to get up out of bed and got vertigo. I had a bout of labrynthitis a few years ago that lasted 2 wks. The vertigo has lessened but is still with me especially when I lay on my right side.I just wait it out before I go to sleep. Have trouble working out b/c of it.
Open Migraine Headaches
Got my 1st migraine at 23 yrs old exactly 3 days after the birth of my 1st child. For awhile I would just get slammed with the headache;then I started getting prodome before the pain started; it changed again I began getting aura; now that I'm in my 50's I got aura twice in my left eye & didn't get pain; but if I get aura in my right eye I get a headache within 20 minutes as usual but I notice the pain is not as bad as it was in my 20s,30s, & 40s. I get migraine about 1--3x a year.
Treatments
- Aspirin Somewhat Helpful
- I guess it helped a little if taken during prodome or aura phase.
- Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Working / Worked
- my biggest trigger is light--bright light, flickering light, diffuse light coming thru frosted glass or through sheer window treatments. If I have another one I haven't figured it out yet.
- Excedrin Somewhat Helpful
- If I take it during aura phase it takes the edge off the pain a little.
Open Menopause
I am 51; got hot flashes last summer but they went away. They're back this summer so I'm pretty sure this it!
