About Me
No profession... between lupus, fibrmyalgia, bipolar, and major depression, I can't work. I have recently gotten myself away from my family who doesn't understand my illnesses, and I'm living in a much less stressful situation now. I love to be creative and I sing and do embroidery, needlepoint, and cross stitch.

I live near Waco - crazy Texas weather. 84 record, today there's ice! Tomorrow I have appt with pain doc - checked the weather - 30 in the AM warming to 60+. How many layers do I need? LOL

Close Sleep Apnea
I just got a cpap a couple of weeks ago, and although I still wake up several times at night (good old fibromyalgia), I feel much more rested now.
Treatments
- CPAP Working / Worked
- It seems to be working for me. I feel more alert now, at any rate, and I know I'm sleeping deeper because I'm actually dreaming now. At the sleep study, they said I only got about 3 min of REM sleep. No wonder I was exhausted!

Close Asthma
Type: Adult AsthmaI've had asthma since I was young, but was only recently diagnosed with it. So now I have COPD as well because of the delay. As I've been sick since a car accident and gained weight, my asthma has gotten much worse.
Treatments
Open Fibromyalgia
I've just recently been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. It seems to have been triggered after I had a car accident (was rear ended) 4 years ago. I also have lupus. Not much seems to help; all they can do is try to keep me comfortable, I guess.
Treatments
- Cymbalta Working / Worked
- Helps quite a bit. Takes the nerve pain down some, and gets rid of that "lead weight" feeling.
- Neurontin Working / Worked
- Definitely helps. I can tell when it's time for another dose without even looking at the clock. Unfortunately, it has made me gain quite a bit of weight...
- Ultram Working / Worked
- Helps some. mostly gets the joint ache. I take it because I can't take any NSAIDs; they destroyed my kidneys.
Open Bipolar Disorder
Diagnosed with bipolar a couple of years ago. I've always swung between energetic and happy to sad quickly, but it wasn't the mania my father got, so I didn't think much of it. But after I got sick with fibro and lupus, I'd swing between ok, furious, depressed, in a matter of minutes and keep doing it. Plus I'd get racing thoughts all the time. Mom said "just don't think about it". Sure, there's an off switch in my head...
Treatments
- Abilify Working / Worked
- Had to recently raise the dose, but it seems to be helping fine. I don't fly into a rage while I'm on it. Only side effect is it seems to make me sleepy, so I take it at night.
- Wellbutrin Working / Worked
- Helps with the depression part of it quite a bit. While with my family, was still having some problems, but now that I've moved out, everything seems to be levelling out.
Open Diabetes Type 2
Treatments
- Amaryl Working / Worked
- Just started, seems to be helping. makes me nauseous and feel like I just came down off a sugar rush when I take it though.
- Dietary Modification Working / Worked
- I can definitely see a difference in my levels when I eat the wrong things.
- Physical Exercise Working / Worked
- I'm just beginning to try to exercise again. It is difficult with the pain of lupus and fibromyalgia, so I'm having to go slow, but I think it's helping.
