Close Scoliosis

I am 48 years old, and had 3 surgeries to corrent my curvature in 1972 (which I had 2, due to the rod popping out, then again in 1975, since the curve didn't corrent itself. I had a double S curve, with each curve being 75%. I missed my freshman & junior of high school with my surgeries. Surgeries for me were quite painful and challenging, but I got through it with great parents and friends. I had 3 children with no problems at all. I loved being pregnant, labor was a piece of cake.

Treatments

Brace Working / Worked

At time I had scoliosis, there was not many cases. I wore a brace for 2 years, but the curve was too severe I had to have surgery. Wearing a brace in 7th & 8th grade was not fun!

Surgery Working / Worked

Having 3 surgeries, placement of 2 rods and spinal fusion. I never got the rods out due to the overgrown bone. 31 years later and going strong. This has not stopped me from enjoying life.
