Glad to hear that you got through that okay! Must be a pain in the butt! I'm doing quite well, just got a job today. I've been unemployed for months and I think it's still just sinking in that I have a job LOL A new year, new beginnings! :^) Take care, Richie

    • Close Bereavement
      Type: Loss of a Parent

I lost my Daddy on 9-2-07 to Liver Cancer. I was his main caregiver during the last four months of his life (from diagnosis to passing). I am the oldest of three children. My parents were married for nearly 30 years. My Mom suffers from MS and is physically handicapped. My role in our family dynamic is authoritative and parent like. I have recently divorced my ex-husband of 7 years. Many life changing things have happened in the last 1.5 yrs. and I am trying to remain positive and move onward.

      Treatments

      Crying Working / Worked
It's about once a week now... it helps briefly.
      Keeping Busy Not Working
Not convinced that this is a beneficial form of treatment. I think it is actually hindering my ability to grieve.
      Pets Working / Worked
Absolutely works for me. I love my dog Jeter... he has been there for me through many tears and remains the one aspect of my life that is unchanged.
      Remembering Working / Worked
This works well when I'm sad and want to talk to my sister or brother. We laugh about funny things that Dad did and it puts a smile on my face.
      Talking Somewhat Helpful
This works only some of the time. I tend to vent more than talk out my issues surrounding my Dad's death. I think I am still in the "bargaining" stage of grief.
