My name is Melissa. I was diagnosed with Endometriosis when I was 14. I have had 6 surgeries for the disease and am currently on constant pain meds and birth control to suppress it. It bothers me daily and nothing has helped, but I have bigger things to worry about. Two years ago (almost 3) I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease in the terminal ileum. I went into remission after my diagosis (I also quit all of my meds back then cold turkey.dumb, I know) and for two years was pain free and symptom free. Then in August, I went in a severe flare and have been in it ever since. I am currently taking Asacol (two pills, three times a day), and darvocet for pain. I was on Prednisone for 6 months, but have finally tapered off of it. Yay! Now I have just started Humira injections. I don't have health insurance so the pharmaceutical company has given me the medicine free of cost! I am so hopeful that this will be the drug to put me into remission. oh, my most recent colonoscopy showed I have three fistulas going from the anus to the beginning of my large instestines....awesome, right? At 22 years old I don't know how much more I can take!!!!!!!

Hey girl. Don't give up, you can conquer this! I've only had UC for like three months but its been hell. I'm young and I've had to change my entire life plus I've lost so many friends because they just don't get it. The best solution I've found so far isn't meds, but learning how to manage stress. Its been proved a major factor in UC and when you get ahold of your life it feels great. So stop worrying bout the drugs, let your gastro do what they think is best, and go take a bubble bath and light some candles. Turn on your favorite song and dance like no ones watching. Just cause we have this disease doesn't mean we can't live our lives. Hell we probably know how to live it better than anyone else. Good luck and if you need someone, ever, I'm here :)

I was diagnosed three years ago. Right now I am very very sick from it and I am just scared about the possible outcomes.
Diagnosed when I was 14. Still struggling with it to this day. Nothing seems to be helping.
