I am a mom of a 2 year old and and 11 month old. Been married for 4 plus years. I have UC and have been really ill from it, nothing seems to help the bleeding. I was hospitalized on 04/09 for 5 days, needed 2 pints of Blood. I have been miserable ever since. My hemoglobin levels are really low so my blood has to be monitored weekly. I'm scared for my life.

I am doing much better compared to right after the surgery. I had some complications with the incision and it is still healing. But hopefully I will be back at work next week. Hope your GI and colonoscopy goes well.

Close Crohn's Disease & Ulcerative Colitis
When I was 7 months pregnant I was diagnosed with UC. I was prescribed Asacol 2 pills 3 times a day. HOwever, in July my conditioned worsened and was adviced to take 3 pills a day 3 times aday. I hate having UC. It doesn't matter what I eat I still have symptoms. Its very devastating it has affected my social as well as my personal life.
Treatments
- Asacol Working / Worked
- I'm taking 9 pills a day 400mg each. Its helped although I do get nasty headaches from the meds.
- Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Working / Worked
- I have given up spicy foods, dairy, gum, candy, chocolate, wheat bread, oatmeal, dark juices, acidic fruits, etc. I see some improvement.
- Dietary Modification Working / Worked
- Flagyl Working / Worked
- Had to take it for 10 days after getting out of the hospital
- Lomotil Working / Worked
- I take anywhere from 2-6 pills but honestly i dont think its working since im still going to the bahtroom up to 10 times.
- Prednisone Not Working
- Took my first dose today 10/31/08 and stopped on 06/19/2009. I have been on it since 02/06/09...had to be put back on 60mg but im taking 50 mg right now. Side effects are swelling, night sweats, blurred vision, mood swings
- Probiotics Not Working
- Prozac Somewhat Helpful
- My doctor felt i needed this since I was having an emotional breakdown after being released from the hospital
