About Me
I'm a 62 year old systems analyst and was diagnosed in Dec 2004. I've been in remission for 3 years after a stem cell transplant in Aug 2005 and feel blessed to continue to be experiencing good health since my transplant. I plan to retire in Jan so I can relax and smell the flowers and travel around this wonderful world! As I found out the hard way, life is very precious and way too short .....

High Five
My Dr. doesn't quote stats. Nor does he say much. Just says look good see you in 4 months. sometimes I wish he would say more. But It is O.K. I am a Lab Tech so I know that stats. Just don't know about this stage to much. You're great thanks for chatting. Keep up the messages. I like hearing from others. Thanks Camille

Close Multiple Myeloma
I was diagnosed with stage III multiple myeloma in December 04. My blood work was fortunately stage I but the lesions qualified me as stage III. I had 10 weeks of dexamethasone treatment and ultimately a stem cell transplant in August of 05. My body fortunately responded very well to the treatments although the transplant was very difficult for me. I am thankfully still in remission and in good health.
Treatments
- Aredia Working / Worked
- The only treatment I have is Aredia every 2 months with, fortunately, no side effects.
- Dexamethasone Working / Worked
- My 10 weeks of dexamethasone treatment were horrible as I experienced the wide spectrum of highs when on the meds and extreme lows when off. Although there were days I didn't think I would survive the treatment, it did work wonders for me in 10 weeks instead of the originally prescribed 15 weeks.
