giving up hope
last night i did two rosaries and i'm not even religious. this will never go away, i know it. it's been 8 months. and i don't even know …
I have bilateral teeth pain which started in August. This pain irritated the rest of my face, so now both my Trigemmys are irritated in various places. My pain is dull and aching, except for my teeth. I do not have TN. I take Nortryptiline which seems to be working. I have no history of trauma or surgery. I had a regular dental cleaning 2 weeks before this started. I am wondering if the flight i took after my cleaning may have upset something in my teeth somehow. If anyone else here suffers from strange unexplained tooth pain, let's be friends. i also have severe anxiety and depression from this, so any suggestions on how you cope would be appreciated.

julie
hey kristen, agreed time for new neuro. drugs didn't work for me and year three i had surgery. i also am on my fourth neuro who is really good. don't let any one look at you and tell you i don't know then let you walk out of an office empty handed without help. these dr's work for you so if they don't know what is going on find another. don't give up. i know this is incredibly hard to go through. are you near cleveland clinic or chicago or mayo or any other big hospitals? that is when i started doing better when i got to a place that dealt with a lot of facial and nerve pain. keep us posted blessings for pain free days julie
Hi Kristen, You need to find a different neurologist. I talked with my neurologist today and told her I feel like a freak because other people I have talked to with TN have it for a short time and the anticonvulsant drugs work and it goes away. She told me that I am not a freak and that in some people tn is resistant to the medications and that is why we have to keep changing doses and medications until we find the right combination. So my suggestion to you is find a neurologist with more experience in TN. You are not alone in the pain and we all know how frustrating and depressing it can be but we are all here for you.
I have been reading about that disease and it sounds really wacky - you would have incontinence too, LOL. Yes, MIT is wacky & there program is wacky and sad I thought. If you were to see my Doc he would just say that you probably have neoropathy because that is what it sounds like by definition. I don't know why you are getting such a hard time. Another thing that I am wondering about myself is if I have some kind of arthritis in my jaw too. But if you are reacting to cold too then hello it is neuralgia, right? I feel bad for people who live in cold areas. Well have a good day ;o)
If you type in transverse myelitis and then put "jaw pain" in quotes a lot of sites pop up about jaw pain being a symptom. And it is on both sides & it is tingling. But they say it is very rare. But who knows, I have been bitten by a rattlesnake ;o) & that is rare too! Ps. I have been to Boston & toured MIT and it was fun ;o)
