I'm a 59 year old wife and mother of three college-age kids. I'm a retired teacher. I was dxed with Parkinson's Disease three years ago. I'm starting on Reqip XL this week. If anyone has an exerience with this med I'd love your input. i'm thrilled to find this support group! Living with PD makes me appreciate and make the most of each day! I've found humor is a necessity in dealing with this new challenge. I love refinishing furniture, decorating, camping, traveling, family and friends. Hugs, Mary

Hi Marylynn, My husband was diagnosed with PD over a year ago and he's now 60 years old. He's also been taking CoQ10 but only 400 mg. per day, but he was taking for the heart and not PD. Our doctor doesn't think that any vitamin helps PD but maybe the CoQ10 will have some benefit. My husband was put on one pills of Levodopa and Carbidopa 4 times at the beginning but after 3 months he didn't see any change until they increased it to 1 1/2 pills 4 times a day. I don't know anything about the medication you are taking, but I think what my husband is taking is one of the best. It's the fatigue that is the worse thing for my husband but the pills have helped overcome alot of it. Hope your meds are helping. Connie

Hi, I'm a 59 year old retired elementary teacher. My three kids are all in college. I have a wonderful supportive husband. I was dxed with PD three years ago. With exercise I do well, but the tremor is driving me crazy! It started on my left side and has just begun to move to my right hand. Yesterday I finally gave in and I'm starting on Requip XL this week.(I've been avoiding the PD meds).Having PD makes me appreciate each day and live it fully. A sense of humor is essensial with this disease!
Treatments
- Azilect Working / Worked
- Started with AZilect three years ago as part of the clinical study. I think I was on 2mg daily (the individual patient results weren't released).I've continued with 2 mg but since the study results showed 1mg to be the optimum dose to be 1 mg I'm cutting back my dose. If anyone else is using it with early PD I would love to know your dose. No side effects.
- CoEnzyme Q Working / Worked
- I've been taking 1200mg daily for the last year in the hopes that it will slow the progress of PD. No side effects. The cheapest gov approved place I've found to buy itis Puritan's Pride. A couple times a year they have "Buy 1 get 2 Free" sales. Doesn't do anything for the tremor.
- Requip Working / Worked
- I just started the beginning dosetoday-9/11- so I'll see how it goes!
