    • About Me

I am a 46 year old female, married happily, mother of an 8 year old daughter. I happen to own RA, OA, Sjogrens Syndrome and a few other minor diseases. I have learned that what I want to do and what my body says I can do are two totally different things! I am awesome at doing back flips in my power chair!!!!

Hi Jamie, How are you doing? I hope somewhere in the middle of all this RA stuff, you are getting some relief from something, somehow. It's not like we don't try hard enough hey. Take care and hopefully we'll catch up soon. Cheers.

Jamie, I know how bad your hands are and typing is probably really hard. But I do miss hearing from you like it was for a while there. I just want you to know I still think about you quite a bit. It seems like you never loose your sense of humor. I wish I could be like that. Some of my days have gotten very dark here lately!

I am a 46 year old married woman. I have an 8 year old daughter. I have had RA for two years now in my wrists, thumbs, fingers, ankles, knees, elbows. Hey, at least it hasn't found my hips, shoulders, or spine, yet!!!!

      Treatments

      Enbrel Working / Worked
At least with Enbrel I can function and get some home chores done. I tend to bruise at every injection site, but I don't mind. Had to stop taking this as it was no longer effective.
      Folic Acid Working / Worked
I do not seem to have any side effects from this one. I have only had one minor cold in the last year so it must be helping.
      Humira Too Soon to Tell
Will be starting this on 4/24/09. Will have to let everyone know how I do at a future date.
      Methotrexate Somewhat Helpful
As long as I use it in conjunction with Humira it does help somewhat. I am on 20 mg weekly. If I drop to a lower dosage I begin to flare.
      Oxycodone Somewhat Helpful
Percocet-Dulls the pain, but also my brain.
      Prednisone Working / Worked
Used prn. I have a love/hate relationship with this med. It takes care of the flare, but I am wired, easily angered, sweat for no reason. Sleep, what is that when on Pred.???
      Tramadol Somewhat Helpful
Beginning to lose its effectiveness. I think I am building a tolerance to it after 4 years.
      Tylenol Somewhat Helpful
      Supplements Tramadol.
      Ibuprofen Somewhat Helpful
When not on Pred. I use this to enhance Tramadol. Sometimes it works and sometimes not.
    • Close Arthritis

I have had OA for over 5 years now. My right ankle is staged at 4. The doctor does not think there is even enough bone left to fuse it. I wear a short leg brace to stabilize it. My left ankle has been bothering me for 6 months now but I don't see the need to check it as I am sure it is OA. I have moderate OA in both knees as a result of RA.

      Treatments

      Arthrotec Not Working
      Did not help.
      Daypro Not Working
      No help at all.
      Feldene Somewhat Helpful
      Too much stomach upset.
      Ibuprofen Somewhat Helpful
I use this at times when I am not on prednisone.
      Tylenol Somewhat Helpful
      Helps supplement tramadol sometimes.
      Tramadol Somewhat Helpful
    • Open Chronic Pain

Hello!! I am the owner of RA, OA, Sjogrens Syndrome, and a few other "normal" things such as Asthma, High Blood Pressure, etc.

      Treatments

      Heat Somewhat Helpful
Helps take the edge off the pain at times.
      Oxycodone Working / Worked
When all my other meds. fail me, I will take this and try to go to sleep. It works about 50% of the time.
      Tramadol Somewhat Helpful
I am building a tolerance to this as I have been on it for 4 years.
      TENS Working / Worked
Used as a supplement to the Tramadol. Enhances the effects of Ibuprofen.

My daughter turns 9 this August but like most kids in today's word she "thinks" she is an adult!!!!!

      Treatments

      Education (School) Working / Worked
My daughter is in advanced classes for math, reading, and literature to keep her from getting bored in school.
      Patience Working / Worked
If I don't lose all my hair in the next couple of years, I will call parenting a success!!!!
